I drained the trans fluid last night and filled it up this morning,the online manual said 3/4 quart to fill it but i still dont see it in the sight glass,anyone know why? its a 2004 blaster

Thanks everyone for their opinions on oil,i think this time i will use the castrol but look into something better when i go to the dealer,like one of those you guys suggest,thanks

Thats what we like to hear,i use yamaha oil in my new bikes and yamaha filters and every other yamaha part i need,but tonight i just want to change the trans oil before i give it another bath and put it away for the next 2 cold weeks i wont get to ride,makes me feel good about a machine with all maintenance done.

yeah the book says yamalube 4 or sae 10/30, im tired of driving to the powersports place for everything,unless it will hurt it i will use the castrol,

im changing the blaster trans oil tonight and was wondering if the gtx would be ok,i will be changing it alot so i would like to have some close to home oil.

What kind of oil are you all using in your banshee and blaster transmissions? i bought castrol gtx 10/30 to use,it says motor oil so i got just castrol,is that ok?

i took the engine out and im going to split the case to clean and check clearances,then im going to get the crank welded and trued,and then add a trinity 2into 1 carb and add a fresh top end with bore job,the k&n air filter had a bad seal so im sure it needs to be gone through completly,i want to put new bearings in the lower anyway,looks like i need to make some overtime cash to get it done before summer,it will take longer but it will be right when im done,thanks to everyone for responding to this post,steve

0000 steel wool works like a champ on chrome and glass,it has to be 0000 gauge though or you will scratch the hell out of it.

thats what i was thinking happened too,the air filter has the seal missing where the k&n pushes against the box and it flops all over the place,plus its a 2000 bike and looks like all stock top end,i wonder if i should rebuild the lower or just bore it and put a top end in it? i will definately be using wiseco parts though,i used them in my jet ski's and past motorcycles all through my life and they last and last,even when i was the young kid that didnt know when to let off.

those came straight out of the engine,i want to fix the problem before it happens again.

as far as i can tell i need a top end but you guys feel free to take a look and see if you know what happened to the one i have,its torn up pretty good,i bought this a week ago hoping to put a top in it and ride it but dont know how much else it needs,doesnt look like any pieces are in the engine,i spun it around and looked with a light,this is not a show bike or a race bike,it does have some goodies on it though like v force 3 reeds, fmf fatty pipes and silencers,durablue axle,and some billet intakes,k&n filter, im maily concerned why the ring land busted on the piston though,Thanks in advance steve http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q35/StevePatredis/
