  1. my top end is off and in the process of getting a rebuild. Can anyone tell me where the crank seals are? I am a rookie when it comes to rebuilds and I just want to check them before I put it all back together. Do you have to open up the bottom end to check them? I tried to download the service manual on here but it's gone. some of the symptoms before the rebuild i read about on here kinda sounded like a crank seal prob and I just want to ceck them. any way to do this without a leakdown test? Thanks
  2. I just recieved a set of 30mm cpw carbs for my banshee and I was wondering what jet size I should start with. In my stock carbs i ran .270 mains. and stock pilot jets. Those carbs ran great with my old setup. I just got the bike bored and a mild port job done on it. I ride trails and tracks mainly. I have full fmf and reeds and k&N all the basic goodies. Im just trying to find a starting point for these bigger carbs. Do I use a smaller main jet? I think cpw sent 155 and 160's with them but i dont want to way under shoot the jetting. I have used the search engine, and it's hard to find anything about CPW carbs or 30mm so any and all help would be much appreciated.

  5. yes you can paint them, although if you havent already and your pipes will look good, with them brushed with a wire wheel. just takes some time to nock off all the crap. I painted mine and here are some precautions.... 1st you are going to have to get all the crap off of them before you paint them, by then they should already look good, but it you must paint them take the time to prep them right first, and go ahead and spend the extra dollar and get the 1200 deg paint as opposed to the 500 deg. If you do paint them keep in mind dirt and sand etc stick to paint alot easier than metal or a clean pipe. I painted mine and they looked great for a while but after hours of riding it just seemed to bake the dirt and mud over the paint and created an almost kinda porcelin shell on them dirt color. Everyone is different and people will give you diff opinions but my advise just clean them thoroughly and if ya gotta paint them powder coat em and keep them very clean!!!!
  6. thanks you saved me a fortune ill stick with the stock carbs. yeah my shee is a trail/track toy. No dunes for me Im not that lucky i live in mississippi, mainly just lake bottms and such. Don't see to many 2 strokes around here so everyone always wants to damn race me and my banshee is ok fast but not uasually fast as a dune racer
  7. i kinda thought that but i was unsure. I had the carbs off and the reeds felt ok with my finger but guess i should take them out and check thanks for the heads up.
  8. Will new aftermarket carbs eliminate the tors bull from my banshee? If I get pwk 35mm carbs will it eliminate the tors? Are these good carbs for a semi stock shee?
  9. My shee was running great and has been with no major maintenence for about two years and last week it just fell on its face. Sounds like its sputtering mainly on just the left side. I have taken the carbs apart and cleaned them and checked them and they seem to be in ok shape. The motor revs real high then coughs back down and sputters like it all of the sudden pulls vaccuum instead of exhaust like a hick up. I need Help on this one before i spend a fortune for no reason. Also if i do need new carbs which size should I buy? I have a few mods pipes reeds k&n and cdi box. I just mainly ride trails/mx i plan on boring it soon. Banshee HQ is the best thing since sliced bread!!!!
  10. I have a 2006 Shee' with FMF fatty pipes, boysen power reeds, powercore 2 silencers, boost bottle, and i am currently running .270 main jets. I have a kit that has .340 mains and i was wondering if I should change to the bigger jets? Am i missing out on some power by having the 270 main instead of the 340? Or will it be too rich and run sloppy? I was unsure considering all the mods what jet i should run and how many turns on the air/fuel mix screw. I am in no elevation. Thanks for any input. anybody have a dynatek ignition?? and if so are they worth it?
