How much motor work can be done to a stock 350 to make it gain the most performance?

I have a 1989 banshee and I am thinking about going to alcohol. I think that it is a pretty stock bike as it sits. I really don't know I just bought it. It sounds stock and the guy that owned it before me said that he did nothing to it. I think that the top end is ready to go anyway so I thought this might be a good time to do this. I want to try and do most of it myself because the people who will do it for you here are just too expensive. I am pretty mechanically inclined and I think I'll be able to do it I just need a few pointers. I thought about just re doing the top end but I think I just want to do an alcohol bike. I have a 1997 Banshee that is pretty strong the way that it sits and I don't want to mess with it. So any advice or ideas on how to start this project would be very helpful. I know that there is a manual for banshee repairs and rebuilds but I'm not sure if it includes any performance or alcohol inhancements. Thanks for any help!

I have a 1989 Banshee and it is sounding a little loose on the top end. I think that the rings may be going out. I would like to rebuild the top end of the motor. I really don't know where to start. I need to know if I should buy a rebuild kit or if I should get the individual parts what is going to be most benneficial as far a performance inhancement and also to pep it up a little bit.
