  2. Man what a debate. I've been banging my head over this for a while. Got an offer for the shee. Guy asked me what I wanted and I told him when he's ready to spend around 10k we'll work out the details. Well he's ready.  It would be hard to replace it for that but I've been shooting around the idea of building a drag quad and this would be the time to do it. What do you guys think?

Went out of my mind for a bit, sold the banshee, and everything else I owned. But Im back, and tryin to get my 96 back in my garage, either to drag only or play, still unsure. Needless to say im tryin.

Man this place has changed tho, lotsa new names, and the forum looks way diff too...guess I missed alot. Oh well hopefully i'll have another shee before too long, and ready to make some trips to the track, and the dunes.

  6. I had the same truck when I was younger, except it had a bowtie... I ended up running a pipe thru the cat. and runnin a single 40 series flow (2 chamber) It sounded decent, but was still VERY obvious that it was a 6 cyl. After lots of tuning and motor work, and a whole lot of rear gear I finally got it to run with the same style truck with v-8's. Even managed to outrun a few thats werent modded to much.

But i must say the damn thing had a long, abused life, and took everything I gave it (got the truck at 16). Still a lil under powered and couldnt pull much, but all in all still my favorite truck.

  7. Hey...... I got one of the 1500HD's    :shrugani:

Boonman is just used to a little overkill with his trucks, he has/had some monsters...so we arent worthy :notworthy:

Really he knows his shit, just doesnt like our trucks. As long as we do, thats all that matters.

After Scott's opinion I looked into the Bridgestone/Firestone tires... Hell the Dueler M/T has all around better marks than the BFG AT'. This tells me the BFG's are WAYYY over rated , and to many ppl are buying them as part of a fad. Anyone else got some input on the B/F- stone tires? Looks like these might be the way to go

Led, if I remember correct a 31 will fit under a stock Dakota 4wd, I dont think under a 2wd. They just sit a little to low.

  8. Screw BFG's.  They are worthless.  Too soft.  Too much $$.  You have any lift?  I am assuming you have a 2500 or above HD.  I have seen some of the 1500HD's, but I can't for the life of me figure out WTF them things are, and who in their right mind would wanna buy one....   :shootself:    Anyways, you want a good 10 ply if you are towing any kind of load.  You could get by with an 8 ply if your GVW is below 10,000 #'s.  In that case, I highly suggest Wild Country tires.  Stupid cheap.  Great ride.  8 ply steel belted radial.  Good grip off road, and good performance on road.  If you can afford it, you may want to look into some Parnelli Jones' Dirt Grips.  PHENOMINAL tire.  Exceptional in everything I have seen them run in.  Driven a few trucks with them.

I am currently running Yokahama Geolander tires.  Great ride, EXCELLENT traction on and off the road.  Snow, and everything.  Only problem is, that they are 6 ply.  :shrugani:  But, the price was right.  ($250 for all 4.  35x12.5 too!!) and I don't haul alot of weight in the winter so they will do just fine for plowing, and general winter use for me.  If you aren't hauling any heavy equipment trailers, (like anything over 7,000#'s) than a 6 ply tire will be fine.  Anytyhing over, and you will want an 8 ply or better.....

Ha, I guess im one of those who lost there mind and bought the 1500HD. :shrugani: But I will say this, my 1500 hasnt let me down yet, and has done everything I needed it to do, even pull some things other trucks wouldnt. I wont argue about opinions, you have yours (which I now know) and I have mine (the 1500 is still a worthy HD truck)

I do tow ALOT, usually just my work trailer (18' landscape trailer, full of equip ) and my 18' enclosed, usually packed with either quads or a car. So a higher ply tire is going to be in order. No there isnt much lift, just torsion bars, and a 1 1/2 block in the back, to get some more clearance. I plan on using a 285 or 295, both will fit, just matters on which brand I decide on and what sizes they offer.

To all who answered, I thank you, you just made my decision harder  Back to the drawing board... :shrugani:

  9. ya i built a 6 footer but my buddy died :(  :( , then i was going to hit it for him but then i sliced my finger with a god damn razor so that plan got scrapped for a week then the weather went bad. my jump is too small right now. its limiting my potentiol. i cant get style off it because i have no extension off it :(

  10. my brother has the terra grapplers on his dakota and they seem to be pretty good tires so far. they are kinda a lower profile type tire with not much roundness to them. bad thing is that i think they are kinda expensive. you might check into them some more.

    286661[/snapback]

    Cheaper than the BFG's.

  11. I think I have narrowed it down to BFG's AT/KO , or Nitto's Terra Grappler. I have heard mixed about the BFG's and not much about the Grappler. Lookin to get some feedback on these two, or maybe some other suggestions.

I am puttin them on my 01 Chevrolet HD, 4x4. I do ALOT of towing, actually everyday, as well as my fair share of off-road driving. So I need a tire thats gonna last, and has a good ride on both surfaces. I have the Maxxis Buckshot mud grips on it now, they are unstoppable off-road, but the worst on- all in all not the best choice for me. Time to ditch these noisy out of round bastards and try something new.

  12. Roosthrower, damn nice list! I have to agree on alot of them, and some I wouldnt.

    Some of my fav's,

Tool, A Perfect Circle, Clutch, Nirvana, Chevelle, RHCP, Sound Garden/Audioslave/Rage against the Machine, Breaking Benjamin, STP, Velvet Revolver, System of a Down so on and so on. I also dig the local music here in Austin, always a good scene with lots of new bands making some bad ass music.
