what about reving it up

I'm new to the whole over ride tranny. can you guys help with the dos and donts.just brought a tranny off of ebay and willing be putting it in next week, but all i know is to pull in the clutch when i let off the gas. i heard i wasnt suppose to rev it up in netrual and thats all i know and not sure
