  1. If the bike is stock and you want to go cheap, just buy yamalube brand 2R oil at your local Yamaha dealership. When people notice your question you will probably get different suggestions because everyone likes to use something different. Just search the forum, because the question about oil has been answered several times. My suggestion is just find a local bike shop, if not a yamaha dealer, that deals with atv's and see what brands they sell for banshee's. You can also order some online if you want, or if you have too, at sites like rockymountainatv.com or motosport.com. I personally am using Maxima Super M right now. Other good ones are Bel-Ray and the Klotz brand. I will also suggest that you get a measuring cup like the one on motosport.com called the Ratio Rite. I always mix my fuel like I'm in a lab because the morons who just guess and mix what they think obviously don't care and their bikes run shitty. If you mix your oil right, your bike will appreciate you for it and it will run great. Oh, and ALWAYS use premium.

As far as the aftermarket Cdi box is concerned, its purpose is to map your engine differently to take advantage of aftermarket upgrades. There really is no point in getting one if you have a stock exhaust system. Any shee fanatic on this site will tell you that a good exhaust system is the first thing you EVER do to a banshee if you want it to go faster, besides rolling it down a cliff. It is an unwritten rule. If it is not stock, there are still other things that are better that you can do before a aftermarket cdi box. You just need to snoop around in the mod section and learn.

  2. when i was stock with just t5's i was draggin agaisnt a guy with 916's and vf2's.. i beat him every single time in about 400ft... now.. when you fctor porting into the equation.... i'd say the t5 will shine... t5's love an exhaust port around 192....

Yeah, but like I said, Im not too concerned about speed give or take...just which is more of an all-around pipe. I really like the looks of the Alien so if toomeys are pretty close in performance, Id rather have the Aliens.

  3. Just looks like new silencers to me. The head pipes look the same as the old Aliens and 916's. Which I recommend. The 916's I mean.

Have you ever riden any shees with other types of pipes; or against them (toomeys mainly). How do the 916's compare. Im not sure what there built for. My first thoughts were that they are maybe a low-mid pipe but the site really doesnt say except that they improve torque and horsepower significantly.

If anybody else would like to chime in Ive had toomeys for a while but they were on the bike when I got it. Around here everyone is obsessed with speed and at one point so was I but now I feel more and more like speed really doesnt matter. I mean yeah it's good but there will always be someone faster. I want my bike to be a very good play bike but would it be a mistake to swap toomeys for these DMC's?

  4. these look to be the same design as the old ones, just with anodized aluminum silencers. these pipes are way underrated! no need to change them since they are already a great pipe!

No, the old ones came together at the back and these dont, and Im sure there different in someway as far as power as compared to the other ones

Or NOT mentioned your bro's 700.

Well i would have thought you were talking about a banshee but you said you were looking around for your brothers 700.

Yea, when I read your first reply I knew I had f'd up. I thought maybe since this IS a banshee site people would just assume, or at least click on the link. I guess thats what I get for thinkin

  5. :evil:mine was doing that until i started turning the pingel valve off every time BEFORE i shut it down and leaving it off until after i have cranked it the next time...i think that gas was slowly leaking into the cylinders and flooding it...in fact, it sat for about a month or so during the winter with the gas valve open and completely flooded both cylinders to the point neither would turn over until i got all the excess gas out (they call it "hydraulicing" (sp??) or in other words trying to compress liquid---won't work)...BEWARE however, remember to turn the pingel back ON after you start it the next time, before you run the carb bowls dry, or you will have H__LL starting it again....dbr

Yep, mine will do the same thing. Just get accustomed to turning the valve off a little before or after you turn the bike off and your golden.

If you happen to forget again and it wont crank (I do sometimes); you dont need to be pulled. Just take your seat off... and then the airbox lid...and then the filter. Get on it, start kicken, and it should start up; then just put everything back on.

  6. Most of my buddies run 12/43 or 12/45, and the reason is when we crawl around the dunes it's sorta nice to have a few granny gears to play with. Ya, I'm sure you could go a few more teeth to gain some more top in. But I have found you really need to try a few setups to find the one that works best for you.

I agree. I ride trails alot and run a 13 up front. I use the lower gears alot and top end is something I don't really need more of where I ride.

That's what I figured, I love the -1 up front. I like the low end, we do some nasty hill climbs too, so I do;t mind having the at most the first 2 gears as granny gears. I'll probably end up trying some different combos. I want to stick with the -1 up front, but I wasnt sure wethter to order a 41 or bigger for the back. I have a decent amount of torque as it is, the +4 timing and milled ehad should help enough with the low end.

I know this topic is old but Ive got to get something straight here. smaller gears equals more top-end and bigger gears equals more low-end. Im not sure if thats what yall meant but I thought I would just clarify.

  7. If you do check your carburator just make sure you know which one is the pilot jet. Im sure you do but some people could miss it. Its a small jet thats screwed in a tube beside the main jet. You will need a small screwdriver to get it out. When you do the best thing to do is to use a straightened paper clip to push any debris out.

  8. You've gotten pretty good advice so far, but if it were me Id be looking everywhere for that missing piece of reed; it could not have just dissappeared. If its not lodged in the top end make sure its not in the exhaust system. 2-stroke exhaust systems are designed to spit exhaust fumes back into the engine; dont ask me why, thats just how the engines work. Anyways, a piece of material caught in the pipes can cause problems.

  9. Well, the internals in the kicker obviously have gone bad. It should click into place. Im not sure where you can get a rebuild kit but Im pretty sure you can find the o.e.m. parts to fix it at bikebandit.com.

    HERE

  10. yeah get +2+1 a-arms and a -2 swingarm. It will steer really easy after that

Really, I figured it was maybe center of gravity but that cant just be it.

ALSO...on a serious note. you can replace the steering stem bearing....and loosen the clamp on the stem.

also....you could get a steering dampner/stabilizer and that help's alot too.

I put a GPR on mine....and it took away all my arm pump.

This is kind of the info I am looking for; something to do with the steering, rather than the layout of the bike.

  11. I just dont know what will make it easier to steer so please dont give me any flack

Anyways, Ive noticed that my cousins 450 steers a whole loy easier than the shee. What is it that makes it so easy to steer and what is the best mod?

  12. I'm wondering if these actually help with cooling, or is this just another boost bottle type gimmick?

Probably a gimmick. Just use blue ice if your worried about it and if you have a big motor then a larger radiator would be the way to go, but...somehow I doubt you have a big motor because the last thing you would be asking about is an inline cooler. If youre looking for a cheap part that WILL help cooling, id suggest a billet impeller. Later.

  13. Well , assuming it doesnt have exhaust i would do that first..Its one of the best mods imo.

Exactly, look up different pipes depending on how you ride and go from there. Unless you are an avid track rider I would suggest making sure your engine is just how you want it before moving on to other parts. But if track is your thing then good suspension is a must.

  14. No advice on stickers, but I am curious as to why there are so many banshee riders in Bahrain. Ive never even heard of that country but Bansheehq only gets hits from 2 places... The U.S. and Bahrain. And its not just a few hits either, alot of people check out the HQ from Bahrain. Mad props and a shoutout to Bahrain on holdin it down for the Banshee faithful.
