  1. have an '03 banshee. Theres gas leaking out of the overflow while the engine is running. We think the float might be getting stuck. Anybody think we might be on the right track. When the engine is not running it still leaks. What do you guys think. Thanks for the help in advance. Later.
  2. I have a few stories also. Heres the funniest...............now that its in the past. We were drinking at my house and decided to go to a town near by and hang out with some friends, and of course drink some more. We were already fucked up. But we showed up and continued drinking. ( i was only 17-18) My friend started passing around shots. I have a shit load of I don't know what. I don't whos house I we were at but here came the bong around the table. Fuck it. ( inhale) When we left I couldn't drive. My buddy said he could drive. He took my car and other friends lead the way back to my house. Not sure how it happened but my friend driving my car rear ended the friends we were following. No, no, they weren't stopped. Just cruising home and we got a little too close. Everyones Ok. We get to my house, I get out try to go to my back door and fall down. My dog jumps on me and delays the trip to my house by I don't know how long. My friends say they watched and laughed for a while. I wake up in my bed the next morning, not sure how I got there. My mom said she had to clean my puke up off me and the utility porch the next morning. Then she had to get me to bed before my little brother woke up and she had to explain what was wrong with me to him. Glad I've grown up. Got stuck in a farm field one time and a tractor that was plowing the field towed us out, and drank a couple of our beers with us. Just got caught up laughin and shit and drifted off the road into a farmers field. Thats right my name is lucky. Have a couple of bad stories to tell but I don't feel like depressing anyone. Later
  3. Ok. I did do a plug chop at 270. Looks pretty close. 2mm. light choc. Didn't stall out in any gears. Felt pretty good about it. My buddy just got his Kawasaki 400 out after running Curtis Sparks pipes and a K&N. He wanted to drag me on dirt. Ha Ha Ha. Wasn't even close. I smoked him from start to finish I want to make sure I'm dead on with the jetting so I'll probably test it again. Thx for the help on this topic.

  5. Elevation is 500. I was going to go 2 sizes and then put the 30 pilot jet in like was suggested when I bought the set up. I probably need to let it go, what was suggested by fmf(260 mains and 30 pilots), but it keeps poppin in my head that I should try there recomended set up. Do I need to get that out of my head? How many sets of plugs am I going to use before I'm dialed in? Little frustrated. Thx for the replies.
  6. Ok I piinned it in six gear and killed the sw, etc, etc. It looks like I have a rich reading. Clors right but I have soot marks and its about 4mm tall. The only thing I doidnt do is keep the throttle pinned after killing the engine. What effect would this have on the plug read? I think I'm going to go ahead and put hte 260's in. What do you think? Thx

  8. Ok, I also heard a little rumor. Is it true that if I go with smaller tires I am going to have to regear? Tell me no please. If so, is it very hard?

  11. Did some research on and off for a couple of weeks on tires and just bought the itp mxr4's for 64.00 each. Heard they have a lot of bite during acceleration. Any body try them yet. Forgot to ask the pros here at HQ before spending the money. PS Stock dirt tires on the street. Blew a chunk out of one of the rears about an inch in dia. Oops, my bad.
  12. Damn it. Thank You. I just read that on Jetting Faq too. Ok, Im going to buy new plugs and try it over again. Quick ? If FMF says I should staart with 260 mains and 30 pilots, would stock pilots and 280 mains be close or do the pilots control a different part of the jetting process. The reason I'm scared is because everyone says I should run jets that bog it down in higher gears and then drop main sizes from there. I didnt do that because I could only get 280s at the time. Now i'm close. If my next plug chop looks good should I still go up in mains and make sure it bogs at higher gears w/wot? I did get some 300 mains now. Or should I call it good and start riding like I stole it. Thx for all the help. I'll be posting a pic pretty soon. Shes starting to come along.

  14. Ok. I got it into 6th with new plugs. I turned the air screws a half turn in so now their 1.5 turns out. It doesn't stall out at all in first anymore. I took the plugs off after getting it through all six gears w/WOT( all 6 felt good) and putting to my buddies house about .25 miles away. The plugs seem really dark brown. Really dark. My plug chop sucks ass. There is no silver in it I just didn't have a hacksaw and improvised. I will do the other plug after buying a HS if need be. The color goes all around the plug. Looks rich to me. I have 280 mains, stock 25 pilots and air screws 1.5 turns out. I'm tempted to put the 260 mains and 30 pilots ( like fmf recommended ) in to see what happens.   17. Yamaha wanted to install my set-up. They made it sound hard. Whatever. Its a piece of cake man. Do it yourself. I did both in an hour and a half. Make sure you get high temp silicone, and try to keep them off your frame.
  18. Ok, I'll try turning the air screws in tomorrow. I'm not understanding the science though. If I turn my air screws in I'm getting less air, right? I put a k&n on to get more air. Why am I cutting it off now? If i'm just barely stalling a little bit, and only in first, how far off am I? Why would I go to a bigger jet just from adjusting the air screw? Thx for everyones help. This site has and is teaching me a lot. PS. wheres the jetting for dummies book when I need it
  19. Just installed my fattys and trying to get her tuned in just right. No it doesnt mean they lack power. Fattys and a k&n are my only mods and I am very satisfied with the power thus far. PS.. I pulled her up in the top end of 3rd gear. Never even close before when stock
  20. ok thx, im at about 500 feet. I havn't gootin her in the dirt yet still. I did get her in 5th gear though and a pretty good ways through. My plugs look good. She needs a little more throttle takin off in first but the rest of the gears (only most of the way through 5th)are very responsive. In first it needs a little more gas than before or she'll try to stall out. I've only changed the main jet, should I turn the air screw and do I turn it out or in from the point its at right now. Thx for the help.
  21. ok. threw my back out this weekend and haven't had enough energy to update. Here goes. Since I could only get 280 mains sat. i went ahead and tried them. I used the stoke mount for my K&N. Just cut the cage off of it. It calmps onto that. I guess thats a clamp on. The pilots they gave me were the wrong ones so I left in the stocks. I removed the snorkel but not the lid. It seemed to idle kind of high. It smoked a lot when it was cold but after the bike warmed up just barely smoked at all. But evenly out of both pipes. It seemed to run decent but havent had a chance to go somewhere and go through all the gears. Put new plugs in and checked them. They were a creamy brown color. Only got 3rd gear pinned. Seemed to hesitate a couple of times. Definately more power. Wheres the idle screw at on an 05? Should I adjust it. Still think I should throw 300 mains in there?
  22. Well I picked up my mains and pilots. Im going to try what fmf said to do I guess. The biggest main I could get was 280 and I got a 27.5 & 30.0 pilot. Fmf said to use the 260 their pipes came with and to get a 30 for the pilot jet. Everyone is saying to start at a 300 main and work down, and that a 30 pilot is prob. too much. Does installing a 30 pilot make up for installing a small 260 main. Its crazy. Thx for the help.
  23. ok. im off to buy some extra plugs also then.I'm eager to get my baby fixed today so i can ride her. My elevation is about 500. Its in the sixties right now but when summer comes its damn hot.high 90s-100's. dry heat though. oh yeah, htose are the only mods I have........for right now
  24. i got my fatties delivered today. Tomorrow I'm going to install them with turbine cores. I have a k&n and I'm going to rmove my snorkel. FMF sent 260 mains and told me to get 30 pilots. The 30s sound ok but the 260s sound small. What do you guys think?
  25. sheefreak, thx for the help. i was about to go down to yamaha and pay 85$ for a jet kit. Good lookin out. All I need to buy then are the jets and pilots and i can use everything else stock? P.S. This site is f***in awesome. Thx for all the help
