  1. thanks guys! now off to the stealer to get some pilots..............
  2. I honestly don't know what kind of port job it is.........all I Know is with drag pipes and big carbs it's supposed to be capable of 85 ponies. My timing is advanced 4 degrees, 30 thou off the head, i'm not much above sea level and in the summer it is anywhere from 80-90 degrees
  3. well guys and gals I got some ported cylinders from somebody who claims that with the right set up (inframe drag pipes and big carbs) i should get close to 85 horses at the crank (i don't know what the port job is considered). well here's my problem.......I've been after this guy about jetting and for some reason he's not helping me out, period. so here I am with an engine that I don't dare to start because I have no idea where to start with the jetting..............needless to say I'm gettin slightly fed up with the service.......ok so I'm really pissed about it. anyway........I don't have big carbs and I don't have inframes, so I need a rough idea of where to start. here's what I've got....... the ported cylinders fmf fatties stock carbs with the TORS removal stuff boyeson 2 stage reeds shaved head advanced timing and no airbox lid If you guys could help me out, you'd be my heroes...........seriously..........i'm getting anxious to try this thing out since it's been apart for 2 months and I don't want to cook it on the first trip out thanks
  4. yeah sure, I'll take the numbers. Everything helps out for sure. thanks for the reply. I was also wondering if there was anybody in Maine. I could drive there if that was the case.
  5. I've got my banshee apart for a rebuild and I thought that since I'm this far I might as well port the cylinders. I know you guys say good things about the companies in the U.S. but it's a major pain in the ass to send anything across the border nowadays. Anyway, if you could help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
  6. it seems to do it when I run it in the upper gears for a bit. It seems like it's still grabbing fine, but what I can't figure out is why it would need that much of an adjustment and why it's only when I'm going flat out in 5th and 6th. If I adjust it while it's like that, when it sits for a while and cools down it slips because it's not engaging enough from the adjustment.
  7. when I first go out and start the banshee the clutch is right out to the point where the clutch lever stops against the clutch perch, but when I drive it for a while, it will disengage about halfway to the handlebar. I'm sure it has something to do with heat so what am I needing to replace? Yes I do change the oil regularly.
  8. I'm not usually very lucky but you can't win anything if you don't try, so put my name in there too please.
  9. I just got some pipes from this guy, and let me tell you he is a top notch guy to deal with. He ALWAYS replies to my messages, the pipes were exactly as he said they were, and he made damn sure that they were packed well. I wouldn't give it a second thought to deal with him again and nobody else should either in my opinion. Thank You Justin!
  10. how do the fatties react to porting? obviously not as good as a drag pipe but I need something that I can trail ride with too.
  11. Hey everybody. I'm starting to snoop around looking for some pipes but I'm not sure what the hell to get. The bike is stock for now but I would eventually like to get it ported. I've got T5's on the brain because everybody seems to point towards them but am I gonna be pissed if I go onto a slow trail? I don't do slow trails very often, but sometimes I end up in places where I have to. Thank you to everybody who offers their opinions.
  12. hey all, I bought my banshee used and from what I can tell, the previous owner flipped it or crashed it or something. my right front wheel tilts outward at the top and my left front wheel tilts inward at the top. If I put a couple of 2x4's under the right rear tire, it makes the front wheels pretty much where they should be, but then of course the rear is outta whack. I dunno how the hell I'd even begin to try to straighten it so I'm gonna be looking for a frame over the next few months. Any idea how much one of those suckers is gonna cost me, new or used?
  13. Sorry if I jacked this thread but what would you guys recommend for a good compression tester? I'd like to get one and I'd rather not get a crappy one so I get wrong readings. I'm sure some others would like to know this as well.
  14. I've been reading about shaving the stock head and I think I'd like to give it a try. Problem for me is, I've seen so many different answers that I don't know what is safe, and what isn't. I'm below 1000 ft. above sea level (right around 700 i think) and I'd like to know how much I can take off the head and still be able to run pump gas safely. Thanks a million!
