  1. Thanks for the respones, I have the day off work tomorrow so hopefully i can get it close. I guess I should just start out with the needle in the middle clip for now and focus on the main and pilot. I'll report back with my findings Tom
  2. Thanks for the replys, I checked the carb, right now it has a 190 main, a 52 pilot and needle in the middle clip. It also came with a 188 and a 195 main, and a 50 and 55 pilot. I have yet to start it, I'll check back when i get home from work and see how it runs. Thanks Tom
  3. Well I just got my trinity 2-1 CV carb kit in the mail today and am eager to install it, I didnt notice any jetting directions with it so I figure I will ask. What is the carb setup for out of the box as far as basic modifications, is it meant for a stock bike? I'm currently only running fmf pipes and a proflow airfilter with no lid and carbon fiber reeds (elevation 1000ft). Just looking to get a head start before I do some searching on the topic as my suspension just came in and I'm running out to pick it up. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks! Tom
  4. I need a set of stock cylinders for my banshee preferably close to the stock bore in good condition needing a hone at most. Let me know what you have Thanks
  5. Whats up, I've been trying to get my basket case banshee up and running reliably, but have been having one problem. It'll usually start after about 5 kicks when its cold, but if you shut it off or stall it, it wont restart. Heres my set up. 88 banshee, fmf pipes, New Stator from RS, new nology coil, original cdi. It seems like it runs good while its running (one side smokes more than the other) but once it shuts off, it wont restart unless it sits for a while. Im running 300 mains, 25 pilots, 4 clip needle, and air screw .5 out. I'll attach a pic of the plugs and a small vid of how the bike runs if it helps out any, im at my wits end. Last thing, it dosent seem like it gets a real strong spark during the kicking cycle, only if its kicked with a lot of force. http://media.putfile.com/MVI_048544 <-video
  6. Thanks Shee-Male, coil is installed and working now. Fast87- I think i paid 120 for the coil, i only used one mounting tab right now since it seems to be pretty secure, i may make a bracket to hold it on the other side. Tom
  7. I just bought the nology coil from kd cycle which seemed like the place to get it from. I'm trying to figure out how this goes together since the only directions it came with were how to attach the coil. It came as the coil in one box, a blank plug wire, a cap and thats about it. I have a cap screwed onto each wire blank, but was wondering how to do the other end. Ive attached a picture, pretty much what im asking is do i strip the insulation off one end of the plug wire to crimp on that clip.
  8. Just what the title says, I need a stock banshee gas tank. Inserts for the 2 petcock screws and the 2 tank cover screws must be in good shape. thanks
  9. Ive been trying to get my 88 banshee running good after buying it as a non runner/basket case. It starts cold on about the 3rd kick and runs fine, but if the bike is stalled I cannot restart it. If you wait a few minutes it can be restarted with the kicker, or it can be bump started. it has 130lbs of compression in each cyl, and the stator was replaced with a ricky stator unit and adj timing plate. It seems as the spark is not very strong when kicking it over unless you can really kick it very quickly hence why it seems to start better when bump started. It has the original ign coil from 1988. If i had to guess i would say that it isnt getting a hot enough spark during the starting cycle, but not sure. Sorry for the loaded question, any advice?
  10. I bought my 88 banshee as a non runner a couple months back and need a good starting point for the jetting before i damage something running it lean. The current jets are 260 mains and 22.5 pilots. I'm in NJ id say about 500ft elevation the bike has as follows FMF gold series pipes and silencers Carbon fiber reeds (dont know the type but they have 2 flaps) pro design intake and filter with no airbox lid tors is gone so it has normal carb tops the motor is stock from what i can tell, 130 psi compression. Just looking for a baseline jetting that i can work from. Thanks
  11. Hi All, I just picked up a project Banshee and have a few questions. I believe its an 89 from what the previous owner told me but do not know for sure. Is there a giveaway # in the vin that will let me know what year it is? Its not running now since ive been repairing all the previous owners mistakes ( missing control arm sleeves, broken bolts, wiring nightmares, etc) Attached is a picture of the quad, seems to have a few decent aftermarket parts. When i had the control arms off the quad, the bushings were bronze instead of the stock rubber or poly, what is the benefit to these? Last question, I'm attaching a picture of the reed valve, it looks to have aftermarket carbon fiber reeds, but no reed stops. Did the previous owner fail to install them, or are they not needed with these reeds? Reeds appear to have 2 sections instead of just one flat reed. Sorry for the loaded post, thanks for any advice. Tom
  12. Looking for stock upper (J-Arms) and lower control arms for my 89 banshee with bushings and sleeves. Pref cheap. Also need both intake manifolds. [email protected] Thanks
