  1. Hey im new to this forum, but im having the same issue, with the recent rebuild and left side not firing, but i just found a blog that said to check if the carb slides were in the correct carb. Apparently the slides are angle cut and the angle should be facing the filters. I checked mine and sure enough they were in the wrong side, anfle facing cylinders. Hope this helps.
  2. Dont know the answer to this, i shaved off just enough so that everything fit . Also used a reed spacer.
  3. Im alittle new to this ite but have been working on shees for a while. 20:1 sounds like way to much oil to any amount of fuel. Use a ratio rite cup and go 38:1 or 40:1. The oil only lubes the crank and 91 octane will keep it descently cool.An example would be your engine is sucking in 1 ounce of gas. At 20:1 thats 1/2 ounce of oil and 1/2 ounce of gas, which enas less gas. At 40:1 your taking in 3/4 ounce gas and a 1/4 oil, which means better cooler engine, and less chance of detonation.
  4. Thank you all for the input. Finally figured it out. It was the v force reeds. I had over tightened the left reeds just enough to make the inner portion twist a little. When it was sitting in the outer piece , it was not flush, thus creating a small air leak. it was so small that it was only sucking in air at high rmp's. I found it when i was going through the engine for the 4th time. I am still shocked that that little airleak caused 4 months of trouble. Thanks again.
  5. If the squish band was not properly cut adding a second head gasket could cause it to detonate quicker. If you want a reliable machine I would return the head to stock and don't run any sort of special piston (Vitos). If it hasn't been done already disable the oil injection system and start premixing the fuel. If you wouldnt mind, could you explain why it would detonate in a little more detail. Thank you
  6. it has stock timing, not advanced at all
  7. Bought an 88 blaster from friend. Said it was a family members and knew nothing about it. I tore down the top end and everything was brand new. The cylinder was at1mm O/S and it had a brand new wiseco. Put it back together and ten minutes into the ride at pismo, it detonated on my son. Took it home and started on the rebuild. New wideco piston, thank god almost no cylinder damage only needed hone. I figured it only needed to be richened up a little, so i went from the 250 main that was there to a 280 main. As i was slapping her back together, i noticed that the head was shaved. I thought i could get away with doubling up the head gaskets, so i did. At pismo, i was able to beat my record of ten minutes and detonate in three. I have since bought a stock head from ebay and attempting another rebuild. Hopefully threes a charm. Can anyone help me with jetting because inside the cylinder it was DRY and the PLug was dry and WHITE. The bike has the following mods: 67mm wiseco piston,K&N airfilter with outerwear, open lid,Old school cobra exhaust system, stock pilot jet and main is at 280, oil injection removal kit. I mix at 32:1 with castor 927. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
  8. One more thing, are compression tests relaible or not. If they are even when im kicking it over does it mean that i do not have a cylinder issue. If im at normal compresion when im kicking it over COULD it have compression issues at high rpm?
  9. I pulled the stator cover and when it started there was no puffs of air. Even poured a little water behind flywheel, no air. The fly wheel and bearing seem to be tight. I did a compression check and both are at 160, exactly. When i chage the spark plug wires the problem does not go the the right cylinder, it is only in the left. I am now thinking that i have a bad left carb. Its not electrical, no air leaks, compression is even on both sides. Biike still starts on first kick, but when i try and rev it up, its boggs and does not wind out. When the crossover choke tube fell off it must have sucked in some sand. Ive cleaned them several times. Its gotta be the v force reeds or carb. Gonna change them out tomorrow, carbs and reeds and try that.
  10. Im sure that there is not an air leak in the intake or i would wind out as soon as it started. The crank sealsounds possible, but would that cause all the black crap to leak out of the exhaust port, where the exhaust and cylinder meet. My gut tells me that its the cylinder, and that its not sealing up and im getting blow by. Ive already bought a left cylinder, stock bore, off ebay and ill bore it out to .20 O/S where i need it. My othere hunch is that its the left carb. Even though ive blown it out completely like three times, theres got to be something Im loosing it man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the shee but shes getting on my nerves
  11. Ive cleaned both carbs completely and no help. Anyone have any issues with v force reeds. What would be wrong with the reeds if they were the problem? Ill check it this weekend.
  12. Ive switched out plugs and no help. ive got two ther banshees in my garage and that was my next option, switching out coil, cdi ect. What perplexes me is that with my wifes banshee when it blew a piston all i had to do was hone and replace with wiseco, and it runs fantabulous, and mine just has so many problems. Anyone think using the b8res spark plug might have messed up my cdi. When i bought the bike, the guy told me to use one of them and i cant remember. Ive tried both br8es andb8es and it still runs crappy.
  13. The story is long ill try and shorten it up. At pismo beach jumping my shee and lost the carb choke crossover tube. It stopped running that weekend. Took it home and pulled the vitos performance pistons out. The cylinders did not look bad, so i honed then out and put in a backup pair of wiseco pro lites. I cleaned everything, the carbs the intake, the cylinders, the airbox , everything. The bike will not rev out. It sounds like i am loosing the left cylinder all together at WOT. Tore it down a second time and rehoned. Same thing, except now at WOT when i put my hand in front of exhaust silencer, the left cylinder is spitting out and gas. Im mixed at38:1 with castrol 927, yea i know but i never had problems before. Ive tried diffent jetting solutions and no help, used the jetting choke trick and im now down from 310 mains to 270's, no help. Took it back to pismo to try and blow it out and the right cylinders running like a champ, the left is still caca. I think its the cylinder, so i bought a stock cylinder of ebay and im gonna bore it to .20 OS like the right and try it. Anyone have or had this problem before, or can you think of another solution.
