  1. Thanks man, Yea I'm ok It was definitly one of those WTF was that, lol. I had to pull some strings to get the $ for the parts and swapped the stock stuff back on for now. After I reset the sag on the shocks they dropped down some, so they are as jacked up anymore, but I guess you could run them that way if you wanted to.
  2. First time out with the new setup on Sunday. It rode really nice and seemed to handle better. That was until I jumped the bike into a stump in a cutover. It was hidden by undergrowth and I didnt see it until I was laid up over the bars. Got off the bike and guess what? Yep left A-arm is smashed and the Elka was bent backwards :: Ordered a replacement arm, and the shocks are on their way back to Canada... The right shock is fine, but the left one needs a new lower eye, and the shaft is bent. I hope its not too much $$$ for the shock to be fixed, got a new a-arm on order already.
  3. Yep your right, I still need to adjust the sag/preload, and set the camber. I might lower it .5"-1" and see how it goes, might need more or less. I guess a lower center of gravity will be better, but it will trade off ride hight. Most of my riding is woods, mud and creeks. I have kept the fenders b/c it helps keep some of the splash off of me, but now the tires are almost completly out of the fenders so I may end up cutting them. You can actually feel the drag on them when topped out in 5th or 6th. It makes the front start to feel light and you can seem the bowed up. :yelrotflmao:
  4. Thanks All - the shocks were an ebay item and were around $7--something, the arms, tierods, brake lines and clamps were also around the same price. I got the red & white b/c I always had a thing for the 87 shee. I just remember how awsome they were when i was a kid, so I got red & white instead of all black, or blue. If I bought an 06 I would have defintily got the yellow and black.
  5. Here are some pics of my A-Arm / shock install. I am running 17" Elka triple rates (comp & rebound adj), Eyeball Engineering +3 +1 LT A-arms, SS Brake lines and clamps. I am still waiting on the Tie Rods to complete the install so no ride report yet, but I'm sure it will ride as good as it looks. These A-Arms are great quality, chromoly steel, tig welded with beefy ball joints. You dont have to ream the spindles and they bolt on using stock hardware. Still need to dialin the preload and settings. I wont have a chance to finish/ride until later this month so I'll update the thread then. Stock setup Wheels and tires removed: Stock Arms removed: New Arms: Installed: Mock up with shocks: Beefy Ball joints, Tig welds: Ground Clearance: On the ground Pics:
  6. I'm still waiting on the parts, cant wait to get them installed. I'm interested to see how much ground clearance I will gain as well as extra suspension travel. I am going to get the Elka long travel setup for the rear in a month or two. Anyone else with LT front end know how long your shocks are, eye to eye?
  7. The shocks are here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ADME:L:RTQ:US:1 And I'm getting a deal from the same guy for A-Arms: http://www.eyeballeng.com/item.asp?ItemID=...e&Placeholder=0 Says 17" shocks required, so it should work out ok.
  8. The elkas are triple rate, comp and rebound adj. They are 17", and the A-arms are long travel +3+1. I think i'm going to go for it because its about $500 cheaper than any others i've seen. I could also buy some 4+1 offset front wheels in the future and make the width the same as a 2+1. Where is the best place to get the rear shock reworked to match the fronts?
  9. I got a deal going on a set of +3 longtravel A-Arms, and long travel Elka triple rates w/rezzies. My bike is all stock except for pipes. What are the benefits of a +3 over a +2 A-Arm setup, and will I need to do anything to the rear swingarm or axle for optimum handling? I ride mostly woods, trails and some MX.
  10. I did some ebay checking and saw some roll design/elka combo's for over 2k. Thats a little too pricey for me, but I guess my main goal is more suspension travel. Once I get the bike to ride good I'll try to add some power. I was thinking of adding some v-force reeds next and maybe a timing advance.
  11. I need some suggestions on aftermarket suspension for my 05. I ride mostly woods, trails and MX. I'm pretty heavy at 215lbs and need something to smooth out the bumps and big rocks. Should I go +1/+2 on the A-arms and if so what brand, what brand shocks? Where is the cheapest place to get a front suspension kit? My bike is all stock except modded airbox, toomey T6 and re-jetted, and Holeshot HD's. I am also looking for motor suggestions once the suspension is done. Would it be better to go ported factory jugs, or just go all out and get a cub?
  12. Not to hijack, but I'm also going to be buying pipes very soon. I'm stuck between T5 and T6's. I am pretty sure that at some point I will end up running cubs (but maybe not for a year or two). With that in mind, which would be better?
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I dont have any porting planned but who knows, I may eventually do it. I'm going to go with the DMC or the toomey T6's now. Thanks for the suggestions!
  14. Hey everyone, new user here I've had my banshee for a few weeks now and I'm ready to stat modding it. I'd like to add some pipes, filter, re-jet, and some reeds. My bike is totally stock. I usually ride woods trails, and fireroads. What would be the best pipes, etc to get? I was thinking of getting the toomey T6 pipe and jet kit.
