  1. OK, sounds like porting is the way to go. The question is, can I get dimensions and have the porting done at work, or do I need to bring it to a pro. The reason I ask is because I'm an engineer and I have CNC lathes and mills at my disposal, with some damn good machinists that can whip out some pretty good shit. If I could have it done at work that would save some money for the next mod! But, like sombody said eariler, my SSTs don't respond well to porting, so would I need new pipes? I just bought the damn things a month ago, so it would suck to have to buy new ones. If I don't have to buy new pipes I'll probably port next, but if porting wouldn't be good with my SSTs, what mod should I do next? Thanks for all the replies by the way, damn good info! By the way, Dark Ranger, I see you're from Ramsey, MN, I live in Inver Grove, where do you ride?
  2. Alright Guys, Here's the scoop. I rode my 2000 shee with my uncle's 04 Honda 450R (he has a few minor 4 stroke goodies). I was bone stock at the time and he smoked me at every speed. Last weekend we rode again, but this time I had A K&N filter, Noss Machine adapter (airbox lid still on but carved out, snorkel gone), FMF SST's, PowerCore II's, rejetted, and some pretty warn holeshots. I still felt like he was faster than me, but part of it was due to my warn tires. Top end he could just barely beat me, but the midrange was close. What's the next step I should take to smoke that Honda? I know there are a million things that can be done, I'm just wondering what would be the next logical step. I was thinking V-Force II or III reeds as a next step? Maybe a degree Key? Cool Head? What would you do guys think. I won't stop until all that Honda can see is the roost I'm throwing in it's face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and then I'll be happy for a few minutes and want more power yet, but that's why banshees kick ass, right?) Thanks in advance!
  3. I'm running SSTs with 300 mains, same stock needle and clip position, 30 pilots, and don't have a problem, but my airbox lid is still on. Pretty similar riding conditions also.
  4. I just bought a set of FMF SST pipes and PowerCore II silencers. I'm running a K&N air filter with the airbox lid on, but snorkel removed. I typically use a 32:1 premix, ride from 0-1000 feet above sea level, at an outside temp of 70 degrees. I have found some various suggestions for jetting, but I just wanted to see if anybody out there has the same or a similar setup, and what settings you've been successful with. FMF's website suggests the following settings (but they don't get into detail about what pipes or silencers they are using) Main Jet - 260, Pilot Jet - 30, Stock Needle at 3rd position, and 1.5 turns out on the air screw. I've also heard people say 280 main jet and 27.5 pilot jet for this. Anybody have any first hand experience with these pipes that could give me a good starting point, or does this look like a good place to start? I want to have the pipes on for memorial weekend, but don't want to get lost in the jetting and not be able to ride! I'd rather deal with the stock pipes for another weekend than be lost on the jetting and not be able to ride at all! Thanks for the input!!!!!!!!!
