  1. You make a very good point and maybe with the twin the flywheel effect is not nearly as pronounced. This is my first twin and I am applying my experience with a long line of 2 stroke singles. Still, am I correct in assuming the the lightening of the shee's flywheel will cause it to to rev quicker If so then at least when we are talking about tight technical trail riding that is not what the doctor ordered.
  2. Just picked up a new to me 2002 Banshee and right away discovered what a hokie air filter system they come with. Hope they fired the engineer who came up with that design Anyway, since I will be riding exclusively in sand, I want to rip the airbox off and put a couple of K&N's on there. Anybody sell a kit to do this? or know what size filters fit on the stock carbs. Also any recommendations on jetting? the shee has Toomey 6's on their and I'll probably throw on a set of reeds for now before I get serious about building the motor.
  3. Well that was kind of my point. For trail riding you want a more linear powerband, which is why I would hesitate doing that mod if you are a woods rider. I ride my Banshee exclusively in the sand so it is a good mod for my purposes
  4. gas richness No idea what you mean by that
  5. Great tip , I will do that... Headed for Dumont next week and may be fairly hot so want to make sure my cooling system is intact.
  6. Sorry guy's but I have to disagree. When talking about rich or lean conditions you are talking the fuel to air ratio being inducted by the engine. The amount of gas in the mixture is the variable as the amount of air is set by carb size and air filtration. I think we are all talking semantics though.
  7. Actually 40:1 is a "richer" mix than 24:1 is. Common misconception though. Here is why, your engine does not burn the oil in the mixture it burns the gas, the engine uses the oil for lubrication. So if you think about it which mixture has more gas in it? 24:1 has more parts oil per parts of gas thus fewer parts gas makes a leaner mixture
  8. Hi All, New to the forum and a brand new Banshee owner. Traded a Yamaha Raptor for an 03 Banshee with Toomey 6's and a K&N filter setup. Owned many different ATV's including a CR500 powered 3 wheeler. Also just picked up a new Suzuki King Quad for trail riding so I traded the Raptor for what will be a Sand Only Banshee. Anyway, we noticed today after riding it around the block while it sat and idled it appeared to be leaking a little water from under the Radiator area. After preliminary inspection we think it is dripping from a fuel line sized black hose coming from the radiator. Overflow bottle is full, but who know's if former owner filled before trade?. Any suggestions? The Banshee wails!!!
  9. You sure abot that My experience has been that when setting up a 2 stroke for trail riding you want to put a heavier flywheel on it. An example is for 2 stroke motocross bikes that get converted for woods riding a very common add on part is a heavier flywheel. Just my 2 cents...
