So...is it top or bottom end......both pistons move sideways and kick starter is jammed rock solid

hey, banshee seized this afternoon! Banshee was spluttering and coughing on the right hand side, i just thought that it was the jetting on the right hand carb....however - this jetting was fine since the rebuild was done (3 months ago). So, we went on chopping and changing things... First was the reeds - went from stock to boyesen, old ones were hell flogged out. Also found that the main jets had fallen out of both carbies so we cleaned out the carbies and put it all together again. We then put on a new air filter, adapted the old air intake and filter from a Raptor 700. Did a plug chop and all looked ok, bike seemed to be running sweet so we went for a thrash at the quarry..... 2 laps in and the thing just siezed rock solid... started coughting at first then stopped. Took the head off to see what happened and below is what we saw. Plugs look a little lean but not to bad eh ?? Also when you push the pistons they seem to be free in the barrel, sideways movement... Take a look at these pics - see what you think - they are HIGH res - as i want you to see as much detail as possible. The fucking thing was rebuilt 4 months ago - ridden maybe once a month. 230main jets 27.5 pilots - 1 1/5 turns out on the air screws k & n filter stock pipes ported motor Any input is appreciated as I am very upset as riding is my way away from things.....eg - a slutty gf who pretended to love me. Make sure that your slides are in the right way - im speaking from experience!! They can be put in the wrong carb and the cutout is facing the motor and not airfilter. this will the symptoms you are talking about. Mine ran like shit, wouldnt hit the band....wouldnt rev just pissed oil and gas out the exhaust. Check em!!

I run a very similar setup; mild port job (i went down on mains after having it ported from 240 to 230) Im at sealevel K&N filter with modded adapter no airbox lid I run 230mains 25 pilots one up from the middle (leaner) o the needle I do run 28mm mikunis instead of 26mms from an RZ250 though, shouldnt change much. Stock exhaust is very restrictive too. Bike has good midrange power and good topend. 240s for me was a little large, would flood after i backed off throttle and gas it again. Hope this helps!

haha my current mufflers are gutted, all the baffle has fallen out, spark arrestor is gone... I have K & N filter so what jets would i go to to run no lid??...anyone got any good 2nd hand pipes??? postage to australia will kill me ;(

Hey Removed the mufflers from my bike. Just hacksawed them off. Standard expansion chambers.... And removing the airbox lid.... What jetting will I need??? Im at sea level and the average temp is around 30 degrees celcius. What other info do u guys need to help me get the jetting right/?? \

I didnt rejet no, As im just testing, bike didnt get warm and it ran very well considering how hot it was today (35 degrees C) All i had on was expansion chambers, So loud but so good Will have a vid up soon

Just let me say, OH MY GOD. Once I did this, The shee almost ripped my arms off. Hills that i could only pull in 3rd i could hit in 4th and get to 5th + pop up the front end!!! The powerband was sooo much more violent. Sure the bike was loud as hell. And could be heard almost a mile away. Can i do any damage running my bike like this? I removed them because my baffles are rattling and they sound poopy. I still cannot believe how fuggin hard it pulled!!! No need to be full throttle up big hills, just a poke of the throttle and u keep moving. Had a good days ride, got nice n sunburnt. 33 degrees celcius out today Also, I have a temp gauge on my bike, and the hottest it got was 90c when really working it. Is this temp high?? I have just done the thermometer mod.... Cheers for your time. Cody
