Got it off used a small three prong puller worked great, gears no good anyway but it did get it off with no further damage

Hey all, Im im the middle of putting a high flow water pump impeller in and I can't get the drive gear off of the shaft, I removed the e clip and washer but it won't slide off, it spins on the impeller shaft should it? It seems like it has gooves worn in it from it spining and they won't allow it to slide off the shaft, I don't want to pry on it for fear of breaking it any sugestions? Thanks in advance for any help.
