  1. We learn something new every day Don't grab plug leads, they will shock you. Does your banshee only miss @ idle or under throttle as well. Hot or cold? Make sure you check out your carbs and narrow down the problem before you start forking out cash.
  2. I'm not sure if its still there but there was some guy on e-bay selling a porting guide for a banshee. The kit included some kind of stencils that you place over the ports and match up so you know how much metal to remove. Check it out but it all sounded a bit suss to me. Porting is an art, it could be an expensive f*ckup if you're not an artist
  3. Thanks Led, ill look forward to them. Pity I can't take advantage of your new business venture as I'm in Australia but it's a great idea. I've heard that banshees have a fairly weak frame compared to other ATV's but nothing a bit of engenuity can't fix.
  4. It's not about an emotional connection. I've got an emotional connection with my car but if I scratch it, I get over it. What's really annoying is when some other f*ck has nothing better to do with his time than damage other peoples property. That's always a bit harder to swallow. I'm with you Wallrat, break his kneecaps.
  5. Had a decent crash on my banshee & bent the frame. I have since straightened it but want to try and prevent this from happening again. I guess not falling off would be a good start but we all crash eventually. I did a search but couldn't come up with any detailed pics. Who here has gusseted their frame? Were you happy with the results? What is the best material to use? Any tips or pics would be greatly appreciated
  6. Yeah, it sucked a bit. Ive still got a lot to learn about jumping. I think that for a split second my ambitions outweighed my abilities, but thats all it took.
  7. Finally found a use for that stupid e-brake I have been meaning to rip off for a while. Went for a practice ride on some trails with a mate on a kx 125 on the weekend, the evening before he was due to race. Just as we were heading home, he stopped, sounded really pissed off. Turns out he'd snapped the clutch cable. He was throwing his P.O.S. Kawasaki on the trailer when I had an idea. We ripped the e-brake cable off the banshee, cut it to the same length as the KX, threaded it through the cable sleeve and brazed the little ball back on the end. The cable worked a treat and was heaps thicker than the stocker. It hasn't snapped yet and he's pretty happy with it, slack prick doesn't even reckon he'll buy a new one until it snaps, I say he'll never need to.
  8. Thanks Aussiequadracer, I'm now a member, any Aussies on BHQ should check this site out.
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys. I found these arms whilst looking on e-bay, they seemed pretty cheap but by the looks of it they're good quality.
  10. Does anyone here have +2+1 'Strong' A-arms on their shee? They're made in Canada by HSD Racing. If so what do you think of them.
  11. Will early banshee lower A-arms fit on a 2002 model?? I guess what i'm trying to say is, do J-arm banshees have the same lower arms as later models with A-arm type suspension? I found a cheap lower arm on e-bay but i'm not sure if it will fit
  12. 02 banshee: I'm from Geelong in S.W. Victoria. The olds have got a farm near Warrnambool, about 800 acres, some bush. I'm at work at the moment, it's 4am here, damn graveyard shift Evil: If you're ever ridin' in Australia you have to try chasing kangaroos on a banshee, those things are quick, but not quick enough
  13. I've found that if you line up the front wheel so that the outside points toward the outside of the rear wheels, that is the best. You will have some toe out as the front is a bit wider. Just line them up by eye or use a straight edge along the ouside of the rim. Thats just my preference, the bike seems to track the best. Also, if you have stock tie rods check that they aren't bent. They're pretty soft, like butter.

There parts around in Australia, you just need to know where to look. There are a few wreckers in Sydney that have banshees. Try Phil Tomlin Racing or JMC Racing, they should be able to put you in touch with the right people. Good luck.
  15. Good to see theres a few Aussies in the forum, its a great place to find info. and there are some crazy rides. The quad scenes not as big as in the U.S. but I think things are starting to take off. If we can get recreational rego. approved that will set the ball rolling. Ive ridden a fair bit at lake Galea, had a big crash there, broke my leg, but the track is sweet, pretty technical though. There is an awesome quad track near Colac, about 1.5 hours from lake Galea. I was there on the weekend and watched the Aussie A&B grade quads race, they were awesome, lap times were quicker than the two wheelers. Nearly the whole field were 450's though, someone needs to fully soup up a banshee. Some guys had spent up to 40,000 dollars Aust. There are some bad-ass quads in Australia, they're just not as common. I'll try and get some pics of the next race I attend. Any Aussie members, keep those replies comin.
  16. Thanks jinxx, That makes sense, the backlash is about 75-80 degrees which would allow for the width of the dog. If it aint broke, dont fix it
  17. I'm from Geelong in Victoria We're not all bad Sugar
  18. Thanks guys, A good whippin will sort it out. Does anyone know why 1st gear has more backlash than the others though? Should it have?
  19. Anyone? Is this backlash normal?
  20. I'm trying to decide whether or not to split the cases on my banshee and was after some opinions. I'll start from the start. Had a nasty crash about a month ago, did a fair bit of damage to the bike. On of the things that broke was the kick starter. Somehow it engaged, due to the impact, while the engine was still running. When this happened the gear on the back of the clutch basket was smashed off, split in two, and a tooth was broken off the kick start engagement gear. Kick start idler is ok. I removed the clutch cover and found the smashed gear and missing tooth, they seem to have broken off fairly cleanly. However, i'm worried that the gearbox has been damaged. I can select all gears (engine off) and there doesn't seem to be any strange sounds coming from it. The only thing I noticed that seemed strange was the amount of backlash between the two gearbox shafts whilst in first gear, its nearly a 1/4 turn. I realise that some backlash is normal between the engagement tangs on the gears but the other gears seem to have about 1/2 as much backlash. If 1st gear is damaged then it doesnt make much sense as I was in fourth when I came unstuck The cross section of the gear that smashed isn't much and its only cast so I can't see how it could have done much damage. Please help
  21. This one happened about a month ago at my local mx track. Had been jumping my stock shee all day and went for one last ride to end things on a high. Big mistake. Went off this tabletop, not the biggest one on the track, but had a nasty kicker upramp. I was racing another guy out of the corner and took a different line that seemed to pop the bike up higher than usual. I came up a tad short and the front wheel dropped into a rut in the downramp. I got thrown big time, bike end 4 ended down the downramp. Worst thing was the bike must have hit me at some stage, breaking my fibula, lucky I had my Tech 4s on. The other guy was right behind me and said he's never had a better view of the bottom of a shee.
  22. Just a quick question for you jetting gooroos, I want to change the airfilter on my stock 02 banshee because I've heard that its pretty common for the standard air filter to leak, dusting the engine. If I fit a single k&n filter with high flow adaptor and run with no airbox lid will I need to change the jetting. I would like to keep the stock pipes for now, learn to ride better before I persue more ponies. What sort of performance gains will this give? I live near the coast (300-500ft) and ride mostly trails and a bit of MX.
  23. Thanx guys, point taken Where would we be without ebay?
  24. What does the e-brake blockoff consist of? Would it be hard to make one.
  25. I'm chasing one too, with the gear attached. How is the gear attached? Looks like its just pressed on. My kick start engaged due to an impact when I crashed, smashing the gear off the back of the basket, ever heard of this
