  1. What are your symtoms? In order to hve a starting place information is needed. For instance ,do you have spark,,if not that is a first step. - is one cylinder running and the other not? - what is the bike doing? - I have a shop manual and alot of experiance with Yamaha igntions,,,just new to the Banshee's,,,,. There are folks here that just helped me out today with my ignition problems, so there is expertise here,so whats the bike doing or not doing??

Well hold the presses,,,went out after writing my thank you reply, put the Shee back together ran around the yard twice and bam, same thing,lmao,,,I took it back apart unplugged and caulked the parking brake plug so it can 't get wet, L Looks like it was the parking brake limiter after all,,,,this is the post mortem,lol,ran around for the last half hour no troubles. Thanks again.
  3. Well you folks were right,,it was the TORS. I checked it out with a meter and the shop manual and it was working till I pushed the throttle past idle, then the switch cut out,,,,,tore apart all the connections and found the one to the TORS control box was fuill of dried muck and small pieces of debris. I still have it disconnected and have left it so. The Parking break switch is no good either but at least it failed in the open position and is not a problem. Can't thank you folks enuff,,,,my Banshee is screamin once again. : :
  4. Well thx for the responses, I will try the park brake circuit in the morning. But what is TORS ?? Is this an acronym for the parking brake feature? Just have never heard it before. Trouble free means my learning curve is high, but I do have the shop manual, and will go through that circuit, thx again folks, any direction is a massive plus.
  5. Hello Folks, I need some advice please. I have a 2002 Banshee, bone stock. I have owned it for 1.5 years and have ridden it regularly. Not hard but definitly some medium to hard riding. Anyway heres the problem. Up to now no problems, other than one episode of the motor starting fine and then it will not rev past idle,,,,this was on a trail system. Altitude about 1000- 2000 feet,I put new plugs in on the trail,it ran the same for about 5 minutes then cleared up and ran the last 4 weeks no problems. - went back again,motor ran fine to put it on the trailor,got to the trail head,nothing but idle, the motor will not rev past idle,just boggs,,, - put on a new air cleaner. - cleaned the carbs twice already, Mr. Mikuni and I are extreemly familiar with each other, i have several 81, and 82 1100 street bikes with essential the same design as on my banshee so I know the carb cleaning dance well. - i did a field strip at the trailhead,thouroughly went thru the carbs, miked the reeds, all good same result, drained all the gas,started fresh with new MC-1 oil,,,still no revs, I was able to get the bike to get up to 25 or so thru the gears on one of the trails by shifting up thru to 6 th,and it made up and around the whole place,I had to work it alot to get it around,but wasn't going to be denied a ride after setting up the whole weekend - plus it cleared up once before - ran it around for more than an hour, still no revs, tried removing the air cleaner,good spark, at least it looks good ,.but the plugs are fouling out quick. - ran the bike the rest of the day like it was and it made it bogging out all the way, - got back home tried it still the same result, no real difference on either side,you ease up the throttle and it just boggs out. - I did go thru a period of pre power band sputters for about 2 weeks and wrote in about that as well, but it cleared up,,,now ,nothing but idle. - its been about 20 years since my last 2 stroker so my experiance has faded with non use. Thx to anybody and everybody. - any ideas

I have experianced this same problem lately,,,,I have no mods on the engine, - I was getting a problem where the engine was bogging out when you hit the throttle,but would idle all day,, - I removed the carbs, cleaned them thouroughly, took out the reeds and miked them and they are right on the spec. - I replaced the air cleaner filter - I put it all back to gether and no more bogging ,except when I left the gas on ,my carbs leak after a while with the gas on. - I adjusted the idle setscrews to 2 turns as the manual says,,,no differecne, tried running them in 1/2 turn no difference its not a terrible sputter,but its aggravating getting the R's up when i want - it was not doing this bfore i experianced the bogging problems. - it seems like I have made a change somewhere with all i have done, any suggestions. - its power is still great when the RPM's get up,,,and if you keep them up, no sputter. - This is when the sputter started.
