  1. check for a bad reed , cracked or deformed and not sealing. My buddies banshee had a broken reed and it would run fine under no load. but when you started to get into the powerband. it fell on its face and sputtered. turned out to be a cracked reed.

  2. O.K. I have the tdr carbon reeds in my banshee. I also had them do a reed cage mod. which is a knofe edge on the inside of the reed block and opening up the stock reed block. I also do not run the stock reed stops. has been running hard for a while now. tdr built my motor. I am happy with it. it is a stock stroke mild ported banshee with 4 degree timing advance, 20cc domes in the head, toomey t-5's. tdr reeds with cage mod. bike runs super. run them and dont look back

  3. Super great idea, but where were you able to find all that for under 5 bucks? I have browsed through a few websites already who have m30 hex bolts for sale, and the prices advertised for them was about $20 to $30 a bolt! Thats not even including the nuts yet!

Where did you find those m30 bolts and nuts for that cheap? Thanks!

I ordered them from Mcmasterr-carr. I ordered the bolt and two nuts at 6 p.m. and they arrived at my door the very next morning at 9:00 a.m. and I paid for standard shipping. I was psyched.

    They have everything!

  4. O.K. I had a brand new motor once.............. New trued and welded hot rods crank ( stock stroke) I got the stock head cut a little, and had the builder install vito's super stocks. bike ran pretty good jetted with 330 mains, and vito's needles ( pretty rich?? so I thought??) the machine had stock carbs with no air box lid with K&N with adapter plate and pre-charger. well it burned up the right side piston. Burned a hole the size of a quarter right through the middle. I can't say what caused it?? I figured it was the super stocks because that was the only black magic going on in that motor. Upon rebuild I went with a .020 over set of wiseco pro-lites, new vitos hemi head with 21 or 20 cc domes??? cannot remember that far back. bought new rubber manifolds from upp as well as new rubber boots connecting the airbox just in case there was a crack that I did'nt see and was'nt leaving anything to chance. I also rejetted with 310 mains and re-installed my toomey needles on the 4.5 clip ( 4th with shim) and ditched the vito's needles, bike ripped. It puked coolant and I got a hot plug reading so i went down to br9es in place of the br8es and it has been stellar. No issues of overheating, machine now has 19cc domes running on 50/50 mix of 110 and 93 with 40:1 benol ( smells like circus peanuts..... awesome!!.) It now has probably 80 -100 hours on it. may need a rebuild soon but for now still going strong, ( compression started at 158 psi, now only getting 135ish?? guage may be f'ed up too it is older than dirt and bike was cold and had'nt been run in a few days.) I'd go Wiseco Sorry for the Loooooong story. Long day and I just was outside looking for the dog wink wink B)

  5. Nevermind, I'm clearly an idiot! NOW I see that you had mentioned the t-3 pipes. those can be worth something. I had a set of t-4's that ripped. I traded up for a set of t-5's but the t-4's were good too!!! so you maybe want to part it oyt. fun for you and you will prob get more $$

  6. So here is my results, but maybe I was unlucky or a touch lean. I had a set of bare toomey t-5's ceramic coated by jet-Hot. They look killer still except the bottom12 inches from the cylinder. they are flaking and look like shit. so I'm gonna wrap them in heat tape where they look shady.

  7. artrax tires. I have a set of the artrax 20 x 11 x 9 I got from motosport. They seem to wear o.k. I got 1 flat from a nail and it was plugged in 5 min and has not given me a prob. Banshees rip tires period. nothing is really gonna last that long if you ride rr tracks or pavement but for 49.99 I'm gonna buy a second set real soon. Right now they go back and forth from the yfz to the banshee.

**1 thing is Moto-sport shipped these tires like complete fucking idiots. they were banded around the circumference crushing the tread and made the tires a fuck show to mount. They were all bent up like pretzels. I finally used luck on 1 and a bead cheater then starting fluid on the other after a long wrestling match trying to seat the beads. i will use starting fluid in the future for all my quad tires. It is the easiest way but can be dangerous

  8. you can try an easy out. But I would get a few new drill bit and first drill a small piolt hole then follow up with a Left handed drill and just creep the drill. it will bind in the bolt and back it out. this is all after a good soaking in liquid wrench or some kind of lube/penetrant. works very well.

  9. Hey guys, I have a question about my jetting. The quad rips fine, no real bog. a slight bog or sputter before the power band if you load it up before she kicks. But my issue is this........ while decellerating, the bike barely idles. no ting ting ting ting ting, just quiet unless i pull slack out of throttle with my thump, just enough to have no slack. I am worried if I let people ride it who dont blip the throttle upon decelleration its gonna burn down. should i try a bigger set of piolts or richening up the needle a clip position or two. I am guessing pilot. it has 27.5 in it now. I want to not worry when someone takes it 4 a ride. bike has :

    .020 over bore w/ pro-lites

stock carbs with air box and NO lid w/ k&n

    mild porting

ported reed cages with tdr carbon fiber reeds

    vitos head w/ 20cc domes 158 psi

    t-5's

    4 degree timing advance

    50 /50 110 and 93 octane

    300 main

    27.5 pilot

toomey needles on 3rd or 4th from leanest

I hear a ton of videos and all these bikes fire while decelleratong, not mine, wtf???

  10. O.K. I have both.

My 04' yfz 450 all stock except slip-on and jetting ( main, Pilot, Needle change) oh and the cam-mod also. 14/38 gearing 22" tires ( smoked) running 93 octane. stock clutch, piston, head valves etc. turn key and rip

88' Banshee with T-5's ( jet hot coated), pro-flo w/ k&n and outerwear, vito's hemi head w/ 20 cc domes ( 158 psi.), billet clutch basket and F.A.S.T. clutch kit w/ heavy springs, tdr carbon fiber reeds and ported stock cages, 4 degree timing advance, stock carbs jetted right on. 14/41 gearing w/20 artrax mx tires 10 hrs on them. running on 50/50 112 and 93 with benol 40:1.

from a roll on dirt/ gravel the banshee pulls away 3rd to fourth and is gone

On pavement banshee just leaves the 450 like too easy.

from a dead stop 1st or 2nd gear start with banshee on dirt the yfz 450 kills it.

3rd gear starts with banshee banshee takes it by a bike length or 2

The shee definately needs more gear

the 450 needs a clutch and tires. clutch does not slip but is soft.

apples and oranges. my 450 makes even bad riders look good. The banshee makes bad riders visit the hospital

    My 2 cents!!

  11. I love them for a 20" tire. I do want some 22's too. I was told they were 6 ply tire and the 18" were 2 ply from artrax. I would beleive the 4 ply is closer? I cant see any writing on them to determine and was unable to find it on numerous trys. How many ply were the stock rear dunlops that came on the yfz 450's I ve run them into the ground and no flats in 7 years. One in the front on side wall due to a Sneaky guard rail support that was trying to bite me. I fut 3 plugs in the side wall in 2004 and they still hold originnal air in them. But the Hd holeshot 22"s look beefy but if they are as soft as the holeshot xc's i'm all set. I smoked a set of them in like 6 weeks before. the banshee is hard on tires if you rip in the wrong spot. I.E. gravel and rr track rocks!

  12. yeah, These came on my quad when I bought it used in 1998. i had a new blue set on it for years with an I.M.S. tank. wanted to switch it up 4 a little while as we do not ride as far away from the house / Truck anymore. Soooooooooooooo.....Noone knows?? I think they are an old Maier product. It had removeable fenders with it. they bolt on and function normally. I do miss seeing the tires without the fenders. I can thread the needle through trees and rocks better. But the mud is a burden but it is also probably fun to watch me go through a mud hole / puddle at 50 with no fenders so it is all good. Plus all those scoops in the front definately flow more air than a stock hood so it can't be a bad thing
