  1. To anyone who is using the gyt-r cdi, does the bike fire with the key off and kill switch on? Mine does this but will not keep running and only fires when kicked over. But with a stock cdi my quad works fine. Is this normal? I have been told it is normal but have never seen anyone ever talking about this problem. Thanks Geoff
  2. Hi, Has anyone wired the Yamaha Gyt-r cdi to make the 97 style 5 pin connectors work with the 4 pin 96 style? I ended up with one of these igntions wich according to yamaha fits 96 and up models. Guess they dont know 96 have 2, 4 pin connectors. Anyways they will not fix the problem so I am just going to make it fit beacuse my stock cdi is U/S. I currently have the wires like this 5 Pin TO 4 Pin Gytr - Stock P - B/R Y - O B/Y - B B/W - B/W 4 Pin to 4 Pin Gytr- Stock G/W - W/G R - R B - W/R R/W - G I just left the P/W wire disconnected from the gyt-r beaucse i belive this is for the parking break switch on 97+ years that is ground activated. The quad runs fine but if I try and kick it over with key off and kill switch on it will fire once or twice but not continue to run. It fires like this every time you kick it. With key and kill switch off it acts normally and nothing happens. With the stock cdi the key switch works fine. In case anyone is interested the Dyna Fs wire colours and pin layout is almost identical to the Gyt-r from what I can see. Also I was told by Yamaha Motor Corp of Canada that the Canadian 1997 models dont have the 5 pin connectors with the parking brake but are the same cdi's as the 96 US models. Are there any Candians with a 97 that can check if the cdi has the 4 and 5 pin connectors or the 2, 4 pin connectors? Thanks alot Geoff
