  1. I run the 916's and I love them. Ive seen/heard the Aliens on a couple of buddys bikes. Sounds pretty much just like the 916's but not quite. They have that same crotch rocket howl like the 916's but a little different tone. Very little though. Theres just something about both exhaust pressures being packed into that one chamber that gives a very unique sound.

What did DMC tell you that made up your mind?

  2. They dont make them anymore so they have went up in value a little and I assume will continue over the years. Id say $2500-3500 is a good price for a modded one.

However If I were you unless the seller had all mod documents(porter, machinest) Id rather have one as close to stock as I could get. Id look for the basics. Find one with pipes, intake, filters, head, etc... that you like but with no motor work. Get your motor work done yourself so you know what youre getting.

  3. so I was out riding...obviously...and everything was great. my buddy was bringing he skid steer down to fix that track a lil bit. so i was dinkin around in the field. I was driving like normal, so im heading back down to the track and i shift all the way down but it feels like its bogging a lil. It won't shift out of 3rd or 4th gear. for some reason i can start out in 3rd....not easy or good on the clutch i know, but i had to get back. and i can only shift up to 4th. I just am guessing on the gears based on how it feels. but why would it only the two gears work? I can see blowing out one gear. but 4 gears? What can i do to fix this? in a perfect world id like to do this with out splitting the case....but i realize that probably wont happen. Ive never done tranny work before. Im tempted to take it to a shop, but that would be a lot of money that i dont have to spend.

First thing Id do is take the clutch side cover off and check the shift shaft and shift star. Theres a spring loaded little claw like part that attaches to the shift shaft. It ratchets the shift star(which is connected to the main trans drum). They are notorious for wearng out. Ive swapped a few between me and my buddys. May not be it but its the first and easiest thing Id check.

  4. Ive never seen a good running 2 into 1 carb setup. Ive had a few friends with them and they all went back to dual. IMO its a gimmick. Kinda like boost bottles.

As far as your pipe choice. Id say stick with what youve got. If anything the change will just shift your powerband a little bit higher. If you arent ported Id spend the money on that.

  5. Ive only raced one Zilla 500. It was a friend of mine and I suggested he send it to CT to get built. Seemed to be strong until he raced my Banshee. He wasnt so happy after that. Ported/bpu 500 vs. ported/bpu(basic performance upgrades) 350 and he got whipped. He literaly was pissed off!LOL I think he kinda thought it was my fault for sending him to CT.

Ive raced a LT250R too and they are pretty sad.

  6. I run 10w30 in mine. Is the switch to ATF worth it? Im about to swap clutches so I need to know if it is.

By the way. I had a "Vito's" clutch and it has sucked since day one. It got so bad this weekend I barely ,ade it back home. I had to idle it all theway back. Anymore and it would just rev up.

I did have my girl on the back but shes 5'2"/110lbs and fine as hell. LOL! Im not blaming it on her!

  7. im riding on a paved straightaway .....im not trying to spend alot right now just the best bang for my buck ..i have dg pipes all the way back .... what would you change first that would make the most difference .. i was thinking v3 sprockets and new chain .....i dont want to get it ported unitll i get my engine rebuilt with a stroker .....what carbs would you reccomend for aggressive trail and neighborly racing? thanks ..i need to be able to get my coffidence up lol .

    sry about the spelling .-dan

Thats the first problem youre gonna have. When you get some dough come back to us. This shit aint cheap.

Something is up. I could out run 400ex's on one lung.

  8. I know you know this now but you must always unhook electricals before welding. If there is a even a slight short it will send the power back through the system.

Example. I have an over-head track crane at my shop. We never weld on something that is hanging or touching the crane. If it shorts it will burn up the cranes electronics. Im sure it works the same for a atv.

  9. I havent seen one bit of info saying or proving that the single setup is worth having. Ive seen them gain a couple hp's on the low end but lose 2-4 hp's on the top.

A Banshee engine is built to make top end power. Gaining a couple on the low end is nothing compared to losing 2-4 on the top end on an engine designed to make top end power. What good is 2 hp gain at 4-5k on an engine that runs at 7-10k most of the time. Trying to make a Banshee engine a low end engine is one of the silliest things Ive seen.

If you want more low end responce gearing is what makes the difference. Not a damn single carb. I have one sitting in my garage now that is worthless. We took it ff my buddys bike and put the stock carbs back on. Its a much better running bike in every way with the stock carbs.

IMHO its a gimick like the boost bottle. If anyone has some hard data to prove otherwise Ill gladly eat my crow.

These are all just my opinion from my experience. Obviously opinions vary.

  10. Ya, they are pretty cool as far as filming. I mean I saw one once where the guy filming just ate shit and it was cool because it was like crashing but without the pain and suffering............

    LOL! Thats good!

Ive been wanting one for a while. Anybody know a good site to buy these things?

  11. Is this on a Banshee? He has to be running very high gearing to hit 60mph in 3rd, especially with 18's..... And if he is hitting 60mphin 3rd gear, there is no way in hell his engine will be able to pull 6th, maybe even 5th with those mods.

But this is all my opinion..not intended to start a fight :geek:

Yeah its a shee. He was tapped out in thrid and just clicked into right when he passed the gun. SO the last reading it got was in top of third.

I will say this bike pulls on the bottom like no other banshee Ive sen. It hangs with my bike till about 4th gear. Then I start to pull. This on dirt. Then run in fornt of my house was pavement.

I appreciate your opinion. This is a cool gadget and we are all gonne get alot of usefull info out of it. Just hang in there with me guys and Ill get some good data ASAP!

  12. Been a while, did you lose interest in your new toy/ banshee go down? lol

Damn guys im sorry. I have been so busy we havent had time to ride. One of my main riding buddys bike has been down. We just got it running last weekend. I promise I havent forgot about my thread. Just looking for the extra time. Sorry again guys. Ill let you guys know ASAP!!!

Edit: We did trigger my buddys bike last week on the road in front of my house. He hit 60mph in the top of third. FMF pipes, 21cc domes, K&N pods, +4 timing, Vitos power pistons, 18" tires etc... Stock port.

  13. why, coz it aint all pretty and smooth?

    they actually run really hard

so back to the actual topic at hand: do the people out there who know what they are talking about, think these can be re-sleeved?

    thanks, mark

No because as you said there is alot missing. Maybe its the angle Im seeing it makes it look worse than it is. Are you looking for peoples opinion or just what you want to hear? Hey man theyll be fine to resleeve. Id go for it. That feel better?

In all seriousness. Good luck with them. Let us know how it turns out. It really is a good question.

  14. It doesnt mean they make an actual "blueprint" or drawing or schematic. That would be silly and a waste at best. It means all moving components are perfectly matched to each other to provide the best operating engine possible.

ie... Matching rods by weight, matching pistons by weight and diameter, matching pistons to cylinders by machining and weighing so they have perfect PWC. Trueing the crank. Matching weight on all wrist pins. ETC...

Blueprinting has nothing to do with drafting. LOL In this case of course.
