pinned247 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I did a search and it seems like there are a bunch of different things that could be causing this but I figured I'd ask anyway. I have a drip pan under my banshee...not cause it constantly leaks but if it ever does it will protect the garage floor. I noticed that every once in while (not all the time) there will be some gas in the drip pan from the overflow. I normally notice it the next day after riding. I clean it out and let it sit for another day and nothing. I was thinking maybe a float sticking.....but not 100%. Another thing, I could walk into my garage after not riding at all for at a week and a half and the gas fumes are out of control. I have a 2006 Harley and a Coleman riding mower in there too but there has never been a drop of anything coming from the Harley and I haven't smelled fumes like this til the newest addition to the garage came along....the banshee. Anybody have any clue why the hell this is going on? Maybe a stupid question but if there are no leaks and everything is clean then where the hell are the fumes coming from? Oh, and I shut the gas off after every ride. Everyones opinions are greatly appreciated.... Quote
mdhc500 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) If you are not sure which machine is causing the fumes maybe you could add some of that smell addative that you can add to race fuels... Like strawberry or grape? As far as the leaking out the over flows... Could be the floats...? Try turning off the gas and letting the engine quit due to fuel exhaustion to (drain the bowls/lines aft of the fuel shut off). Maybe the fuel shut off valve is not closing 100% and leaking due to that??? Crap I'm just throwin stuff out there... Good luck... Edited August 22, 2008 by mdhc500 Quote
downNdirty Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I was having the same problem awhile back. I was told to take off the bowl and clean and inspect it. And there was a grain of sand in there. Once I cleaned it out and put it back together I had no problems with gas leaking anymore. Quote
mdhc500 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Do you know if its overflowing at all when you are riding, or only when you shut it down? Quote
pinned247 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Do you know if its overflowing at all when you are riding, or only when you shut it down? One of my friends told me he saw gas coming out of the overflow when I was riding one time but then he got on it and I saw nothing. He said he knows he saw something coming out of the tube. As stupid as this sounds...I only think it does it once and a while. I'm getting new pipes this weekend and I'll have to re-jet so I guess I'll find out then.... As for which machine the fumes are coming from...I'm 100% its the banshee. There was no smell before I got it...now I'm afaid to light a match in there. lol! Quote

pinned247 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Dude you will ove the difference pipes make! Yeah I know...Sunday can't come soon enough. I'll probably jack something up re-jetting it but after a few hundred plug chops I think I'll get it right. Quote
