SLORYDER Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) Hello. I recently took ma bansh to the dunes, and ran the bastard out of gas. After I started it back, It ran like crap. Couldn'e even get it to take off. So I took it apart and found out there was a score mark from the exhaust boost port to the top where the ring rides. It's not really a sharp-edged scratch, but more like a 1/32" "valley". Not yery deep at all, but can feel it with finger. They are cheetah cylinders, and would need to be re-nik-a-sil'd. I really don't feel like doing that right now, will I screw something up further if I run it as is, or can I use it for a couple months when I do my planned major overhaul....And no I didn't check the compression.....Like a dumbass. Thanks in advance for any imput...Marcus Edited July 10, 2008 by SLORYDER Quote

blowit Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 Well I would want to know where this scratch came from... Are those rings still floating in the pistons or welded in?? I think I might look closer as the pistons. If you lose a ring, you will not like your self in the morning. Brandon Quote

monster_energy06 Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 there aren't many options wen u score nikasil cylinders .. if u dont catch yur finger nail on the scrtach its fine. just give it a quick ball hone and yur good to go ... but if u can cactch yur finger nail on it youll need to get it replated..... i know it sucks but thats the way it is...... u can try and get away with it but chances are u will run into bigger problems in the end that will cost alot more then getting it replated....
