TeamRealtreeHD Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Hey guys... haven't been on in a while, but then again, I haven't been riding. But I took the bike out for the first time over the weekend, it ran really good... took out some 450's and another bashee, also hillclimbed very well. Just overall ran very good. But I have some questions... I want to get the bike ported as it is not ported and polished yet. I also saw you guys talking about advancing the timing. Maybe I'll do that too, +4 do you think? So those are the two definate modifications I want to do to the bike, just need some input on the timing and what I will gain from that. I also would like to know about the crank. Should I go bigger or keep the stock crank and stroke? I know many times you cannot port it after you do it once with the stock crank. Should I go with the bigger crank, like a 4 mil? I know it has alot to do with money, but will I really see a difference with my mods... or should I keep the stock crank? I need some input here... So definately porting her, and advancing the timing since that is a cheap mod. But I am really considering this 4 mil... I just do not know what it will cost, and how much I would gain. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted May 14, 2008 Author Report Posted May 14, 2008 Was that a stupid question? I just don't know what I should do here guys... I am going to get a dune port as I ride basically as a hillshooter and race around... I just don't know about the crank and if I should do that or not... I know someone here has to have experience with the cranks going from stock to a 4 mil. And the timing. The bike ran like new all of last year and like I said the first time I fired it up this year as well over the weekend. Drained all the fluids and didn't start it once over the winter because of it... filled it up, she fired up in 2 kicks... makes me think I should just let it alone! But I would really like to at least port it and advance the timing, just don't know how much, and if I should do the crank as well. I am in Central Pennsylvania, don't know my altitude but I am running 105 octance through it... 116 Cam 2 and 93 pump mixed half and half, along with klotz techniplate 40:1 Quote
KEVSWS6 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I love the 4mil for a step up in all around power. A good mid to upper end port job to match. A set of shearer in frame pipes and timing plate on +6. Around 175 to 180 PSI on a NOSS cool head setup with custom domes. This will bring it to the 80 hp range at the wheels with the right port job. If you cant have fun with that then I don't know what to tell you. Quote

KEVSWS6 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 OK, so standard stroke and 70 hp easy. Whats not to like? Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted May 14, 2008 Author Report Posted May 14, 2008 Correct... nothing to complain about there. So a good port job and advancing the timing will be a good investment then for this bike? It runs really well now, I just had all my 2 strokes ported in the past, just not this one yet. So if I go with a high more aggressive port job on it, running the higher octane fuel, how much should I advance the timing? Quote
okbeast Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Porting is the BEST bang/buck for a banshee, hands down. Ironically Kev^^^ does a helluva play port which sounds like what you're lookin for. As for the timing I would think +4 or +5 would work fine on a play bike. Quote
MarineNYC Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Kev is hands down the best man for the job. Dudes around here cant touch my shee. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted May 14, 2008 Author Report Posted May 14, 2008 Kev, what would I be looking at money wise to do this port and advance the timing? What do you think, overall including shipping, this would cost? Quote
KEVSWS6 Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Kev, what would I be looking at money wise to do this port and advance the timing? What do you think, overall including shipping, this would cost? I shot you a PM. The turn around time is 2 weeks if you decide to do it. Quote

Kev, I don't have a PM for some reason... can you try re-sending? Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll send the motor out to you if it is reasonable for sure!!! Quote
