arfountain Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Alright, I ripped the motor out of my quad, then put it back in after painting the frame. I put it back in and now one side wont fire. I've got spark and great compression, getting fuel too. What else could it be? Any suggestions would be great. Definetly a rookie here and confused as ever. Quote
chappy Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Well I have the same problem on mine 2.Great compression, getting fuel, and gfreat spark but wont fire on the right cylinder.Mine will fire though if I have the choke half on.figure that one out.Shut the choke off and it quits firing.Does your other cylinder fuire with the ckoke half on? I just realized my pilot jets had 30s in them and put the stock 25s back in, now i can't even get the damn thing to start. I started to part one of my banshee out and put another back together to sell whole. So i have parts off a 99 and 00. So I put stock pipes back on it and that's about it. The carbs and motor are out of the 99 which I had running a week ago. Ran like a champ. Put the stock pipes back on now I can't get it running. Maybe I have a clogged pipe. When I had the 30s in there for pilot jets I had it idling on one cylinder, I guess I am going back out to the garage and putting the 30s back in and will try to remove my fuel filter to make sure something didn't get clogged in there. What are you running for your pilots? Quote
arfountain Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Can anyone say time for another beer? Damn I am getting pissed at this thing. Quote
arfountain Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Is there a way to tell if your reeds are bad, I did take out my boysen reeds and putting stock ones back in. Quote
gumby6t9 Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 So you painted your frame??? Is your coil and other grounded wires getting a good ground??? Might want to check that out. Also, swap plug wires and see if the firing side changes... Quote
arfountain Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 So you painted your frame??? Is your coil and other grounded wires getting a good ground??? Might want to check that out. Also, swap plug wires and see if the firing side changes... I've got spark so I assumed the ground was good. I traded wires, and tried trading plugs, still no difference in end result. I put those 25s back in and now I can get the one side started up, but once i give it some gas it will bog out and die. Still no fire off the right side though. Quote
chappy Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I bumped my pilots up to 27.5's because I was maxed out at .5 turn out on the air screws and still a bottom end bog with my new toomey T5's.I tried switching the slides on the carbs thinking maybe I got them mixed up but then the other side wouldn't fire that fired before and as soon as I shut the choke off,the right one quit again just like before. Its gotta be carb related somehow.I'm about ready to just set it on fire and say screw it I'm so pissed. If I was you though,I would try switching the slides in your carbs because maybe you got them mixed up when you had them apart. It could be your problem. chappy Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I got mine running today.Turned out the needle thing for the float was stuck almost all the way closed on the one carb and would let the bowl run dry.By the time I got it tore apart ,the bowl was full again so I never thought it was sticking.
