looking for after market silencers with spark arrestors, nothing too restrictive though. I was thinking fmf turbine power core2, but I have one on my yz for woods racing and they meet the sound DB's which is 94, but im looking for something alittle louder! :whistling:

Toomey makes spark arrestors that are easily removed/installed on thier silencers. They are an add-on to the silencer.

Trinity makes a nice set-up.. The End caps are removeable . Take off the stock endcap and replace it with a nice billet sparkarrested end cap. Or.. just buy some USFS approved screen and make your own.

What silencers do you have now?

Do you need to meet a DB limit or not?

If you do, two real options. Dave Moore Racing makes a "Legalizer" that is quiet yet unrestritive, and Toomey offers a hush kit with a built in spark arrestor...

I have the toomey hush kit w/o the sparky. but thats too quite, and i can tell when its on(HP loss). I dont have to meet any sound requirements either. im just looking for a good silencer that has a spark arrestor but not be too quite.

ive got some fmf turbine cores on my banshee and they look great. i dont like those ugly ass clamp on sparkys or those toomey ones that stick out 5" i would go with fmf

same here, I think thats what I'll end up doing. I have a fmf TQ2 on my bike and ive been happy with that for a couple of years now. did you buy the fmfs universal? or do you have fmf pipes, because im sure fmf silencers wont match up to toomey pipes

BansheeDan used the USFS approved spark arrestor screen and made his own for his T-5 silencers. I did it to a set of shearers awhile back too.. They passed the DNR check at silver lake.

so did we, the dick officer at silverlake told us that we had to take the silencer apart and show him the screen. and also he said that if the silencer doesn't have the usfs approved "STAMP" on it then its not approved. I have alba usfs approved "STICKERS" on my T5's and they didnt like that either.

What did you make your spark arrestor out of. could you take a pic of it and post it

It also depends on who's working the entry booth, because last year we didnt have sparkys on or in our t5s and we got right in when the blonde click was working. then we came back tot he parking lost because my buddys lugs came loose and they wouldnt let us back in afterwards, so we had to go buy a toomey husk kit with the sparky for his. lucky i brought my stock silencers with me so i just bolted those black turds up and we were fine

I dont have any pics, The bike I did it too is in Florida now..

Did you use the alba screen? or just the stickers? They can tell by looking at the screen if its USFS approved or not. The screen was right at the tip of the silencer. I used a alba sparkarrestor screen.

Just wrap the edges around the core of the silencer and then jam the cap back on to lock it in place.

I talked to the head officer out there about it and he said that it was fine. He just didnt want people using window screen and stuff like that. As long as its USFS approved screen he said its fine. The officers Name was Jody and he was the head officer.

I guees if it doesn't have the stamp they would want to see it..

My cousin tried to get in with thick window screen.. they shot him down faster then shit.

i had that happen to me with one of my sandrails. There is a fatass guy that is at the booth mostly on weekdays and he denied me from getting into the dunes because i didnt have a exhaust, well i could understand that if i didnt have a damn TURBO. i was so pist off, finally there must have been a shift change or the fatass went to get lunch and i got right in. there anal as hell up there if you get the asshole dnr officers.

I tried the window screen also and they denied me along with my buddy that did the same thing. So I just bought a set of T5's so can I just take the cap off and buy this alba screen thats forestry approved and get the stickers?I got screwed last year and had to sit in the parking lot all day because my LRD silencers were to big for any of the sparkys the store had.Don't want it to happen again.
