Guest utleybanshee Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 i jus recently bought a 99 banshee i was told it was a 421 with vitos big bore kit and a 4mm stroker.. i opened the top end today and seen that the pistons were 69mm so that would be a big bore kit right? but how do i tell if its a stroker crank or not? Measure from the cylinder deck to top of piston at TDC and again at BDC, stock is 54mm stroke. Quote
Fireroad Express Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) yep 69 mil is a big bore. are they stock cylinders or the vito's billet one. if they are stock see if there is a spacer plate under the cylinders.(kinda like and extra thick base gasket). are you running wiseco pistons? if you can still see the #s on it post them on this thread and see if they are 795s. these pistons are for the 115 long rod stroker cranks. not many people have the stock stroke cranks with a long rod. so youcan almost be sure its a stroker. or get out the measuring stick and check the stroke. shanYE west Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 If he's using 69mm pistons they wont be 795 series pistons.. Wiseco dont make banshee 795 pistons in a 69mm. The 795 are designed for the long rod cranks. But you still have to mod the head/domes or use a plate even with the 795 pistons to accomadate for the the longer stroke. The 795 pistons have higher pin location for the longer rods. If its the stock cylinders with a 4mil crank your pistons should rise above the deck by 2mm. Quote

They say its a replacement piton for their bigbore kit.. but that dont help you with figuring out your stroke... I'd give vito's a call and ask them about that part number. blowit Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 I think it was already posted to "measure" the stroke. I little harder with the topend off but doable. TDC and BDC meaurements will tell you the stroke regardless of how the cylinders are setup. Brandon Quote
