BAMA07 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Would it be a good or bad thing to put small bore inframe cpi's on a stock motor had the thing for about 2 months and just wanna go fast. I know its a beefy exhaust for mid/top and all, but was just gonna get some other opinions on them. In time i will put more mods on it and port it but for now im dying with the stock pipes on the bike and cant hang with the 4 strokes atm. Everyone said go for toomeys but as soon as i thought my mind was made up i went to some dunes and every banshee there had cpi's on them and where running great. I know some have been ported but 2 where on on stock motors and still hauling ass. So i was just wondering dont wanna get some pipes that are meant for serious motor work on the bike to really shine but at the same time i wanna get some i can hang onto for a while and not have to upgrade the exhaust to often. thx Quote
dajogejr Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Too tough of a question to answer... In General...those pipes will respond better to porting and bigger carbs. However....your particular motor might work better bone stock with Toomey or CPI... Personally....I'd get a cheap set of used Toomey until you get motor work done. They hold their value very well if you take care of them, then sell them when you're ready for a more mid-top end pipe.... Quote

J-Madd Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 I've put CPIS on a stock motor just for the hell of it, and they pull just a little harder on top, compared to Toomey's but lack on a lot on the midrange and bottom end of the T5s (though T5s are not known for bottom end, they're still better than CPIs, especially on a stock motor). I've got a set of FMF SSTs that a guy traded me for my T5s that I used to have.........I'd sell them pretty cheap, they've been setting in my shop for months. MUCH better than stock, but you won't want them if you get an aggressive port job later. PM me if interested. Quote
