okbeast Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 (edited) Motor is gonna have a dune port, 19cc domes, timing advance, all the small stuff. I'm trying to find a good tire and swingarm combination and found some 10 paddle super light extremes with rims for a good price. I'm curious if anyone's run this combination with a +4 swingarm or do you think it'd work? This will be ran mostly at LS in Oklahoma so it's pretty fluffy light sand unless it rains and then it's still fairly light and deep. I only weigh around 140 lbs. so traction is a bit more of a issue for me than some, and I'm pretty good at throwin my weight around to keep the front end down. Let me know what ya'll think. dajogejr Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I think you'll have a good combo because of your weight (lucky bastard...LOL) Lighter riders generally have less arm and more paddles.... You may have to play with your gearing a tooth or two here or there, but I'd start off with stock gearing and launching in second....see how you do... Quote
okbeast Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 Ya I'm a fan of launching in 2nd gear, 1st always seems too short, and 3rd seems to pull really really hard so bypassing 1st just works good. I'm runnin 13,42 gearing right now and I maaay leave that on there just to try it out with the 22's since it seems to work well with 20"ers on stock motor. I'll take a few other sprockets in case I need to switch it up some. And yes, lighter is better  Quote
okbeast Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Anyone else runnin a combo like this? I keep gettin told I won't be able to keep the front end down. Quote
theshee Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I think I would run an 8 or 9 paddle. I dont know if you will keep the front down. I ran 10 paddles extremes on my 421 cub, so I think 8s or 9s would be more suitable for a dune port. Quote
okbeast Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 They are triple buffs too, so getting 'em spinning won't be much of a problem. I was just wondering about traction, and lots of it. Quote
sheefreak Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 If anything, they will be a bit too much traction. But as stated, since you are a lighter rider, you'll probably be ok in the dry fluffy stuff. If the sand gets wet, hello sky! I weigh 170, 6 inch swinger, 9 paddle b2b's and it is a chore getting a great launch w/o having to let out of it. Quote

I have a +6 swinger with 22" 10 paddle SL Haulers on my 421 Cub... Works well for me... Might want to try something a bit less... Extremes hook up even more then what I have... Quote
okbeast Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Got my eyes on a +6 now. I'll probably still get a +4 just to try it and see but the 6 is at a hella good price. Quote
moneybags Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I run my 421 cub with +4 swingarm and a 22-11-8- 9 paddel supper light and love the how they hookup for me. I come in about 175 and it a like riden a bull on takeoffs. But I can get the job done. I was also running a 15-42 gear setup. That was with 35PWK carbs. I have bigger now. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 13/42 gearing sounds like a really short pull for each gear, might want to step it up a few or atleast back to a 14 - with the port job youll like it. Eric Quote
bansheefreak Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 i run dune port and a plus4 swinger and 10 paddles.. i would spin with the 10 paddles cus they was 20/10/10 extremes.. tried a set of 21 9 paddle and it hooked good would wanna come up some but not too bad.. i think the since the 21's were taller it was helping get out of hole where the 20's would drag in the sand they was so low profile..sand was pretty wet that weekend too cus it rained for 2 days while there.. next dune trip im run some 21 11 paddles.. i think i plus 6 will be almost too much where you will spin more then benefit. a plus 4 you will hook but more controlable.. i would go plus 4 first if you dont like it there would be twice the ppl looking for a plus 4 then say if you tried getting ride of a plus6 if it didnt work out..
