Shred Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 The E-Tech engines have not made the EPA 2007 regs. Evinrude E-TEC outboards are designed to comply with 2007 EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) as well as tough 2007 EU (European Union) standards . E-TEC even meets the ultra-low 2008 CARB (California Air Resource Board) 3-Star emissions rating which are stricter than 2008 Federal EPA standards. The truth is that the "old technology" E-techs are not only out performing every newly designed comparable four stroke engine in the marine world in performance , weight and in total emissions but are outselling them too. Watch Yamahas engine line up in 08' Hint hint. Quote

Watch Yamahas engine line up in 08' Hint hint. As far as I know, at least two of the larger displacement engines are sitting in a test cell in Detroit madly trying to meet EPA 07 standards, but they haven't yet. I guess I am bit of a disadvantage as I have no idea what the 3-Star Emissions rating is. The only time I have ever heard of it has been inreference to Evinrude's E-Tech stuff. It kind of seems like somethng conjurred by their marketing department. Quote
