theshee cut me a sweet deal on his shrears, so I will be switching from pro circuits to shrears. My jetting seems pretty fat on the bottom end right now. I have 158 mains, 50 pilots, CEL needel 2nd clip from the top. Dune play port from FAST + 6 timing K&N pods PWK 33's elevation is 3000-3200 ft temp right now is low to high 80's. If you need to know anything else just let me know.

 

 

Forgot to mention that I still have the pro circuits on right now, I wont have the shrears until saturday. I just really dont know what to expect with the jetting for the shrears.

Leave the jetting the same, and do a plug chop.

You'll still probably end up with a mid 40's on the pilot, 42, 45 or 48.

 

Main is about right....I'm sure it's safe.

 

Shearers vs. PC are night and day different...there's no other way to put it...

Yeah the difference in the pipe is going to be drastic. Nothing hits quite like a shearer when you get on the pipe.

So I got the shrears on, and my pilot is way too rich. So rich that I fould 2 sets of plugs in about and hour. I havnt done a plug chop yet because it just sputters on the bottom end. I put fresh plugs in runs ok for about five minutes then the left side will start cutting out, motor will bog etc etc....

 

What do I do first? I suck when it comes to jetting.

I dont know man. You shouldnt be off so much that its fouling plugs. They can take a good bit of fuel before fouling out. A couple jet sizes shouldnt make that much of a difference. I could be wrong. Im sure someone will chime.

 

 

 

I would drop to a 48 pilot and adjust the air screw to dial it in. If it still wont dial in go with 45's and try again.

 

 

Nobody can tell you exactly how to jet an engine. Its all trial and error.

Ok so now I rejetted, put in 48 pilots and its still fat. It did start easier and took longer for the motor to start acting up. I'm pretty much at a pause right now because I dont have any smaller pilots. My guess is that I will end up with a 42, but im going to try the 45's first.

 

Someone chime in, I want yalls opinions. Could something else be causing this?

Is that motor ported yet?

If not...I think Shearers and 33PWks are overkill.

 

That being said...have you tried adjusting your air screws at all with each new pilot you've thrown in?

Ok...that motor should run well then...didn't see porting anywhere in your sig...

 

The useful range on a air screw is .75 or so to 2.5 turns out...

Put a 45 in...

 

Lightly seat each air screw. Turn each 1/2 turn out. Warm the bike up...

Go for a ride.

Come back, turn each air screw out 1/2 turn more, wait 20 seconds for this change to take effect.

Go for a ride...

 

Adjust the air screws to the highest idle...

If you get to 2.5 turns out and it still blubbers, go the next size leaner pilot....

 

Whole lot easier to turn those screws than remove each float bowl and pilot.....

You've got a good point there Dave. Ill try the 45 but my guess is that I'll end up with a 42.

 

Jeff should be calling me in the moring, I'll quiz him about it and see what he thinks...
