KingSpade Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 (edited) is a cool head a worthwhile mod to do to a stock motor? if i decide to get one do you guys reccommend pro design, duncan, noss, vito's??? also what sized domes would be a good size for a stock motor? kind of kicking around the idea of getting one. i was also wondering about the vforce 3 reed system, i had the vforce 2 in one of my other banshees and was not very impressed in the quality of the unit, any leads to a good reed valve system? i am asking all these questions so i can have all the parts that i want here when i pick up the shee so i can put it all on at the same time instead of tearing it apart 18,000 times. im sure you guys can understand that......... i forgot to mention to you guys i do 99% trail riding, some pavement pounding (not asphalt racing) the only time i really get on to the pavement is just to and from trails and to race my buddies, but the trails we have are wide and long with lots of burms and jumps, kind of comparable to an mx style of riding. lots of places to lift the slides to the top. MILO Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 i've only had the noss head, and v3's. no other manufacturer's of heads, but i did run boyesen reeds with the stock cages for a while. i haven't had any issues with the noss head or the v3's, both seem to be very well made. i don't have any temp comparisons with the noss head, but installation was really simple, i've heard some others can be a hassle to deal with. i have no complaints with noss or vforce. Quote
dajogejr Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 Shave your stock head .020 or .025. I use a NOSS head because I built a complete motor, and with the stroker/big bore I had, it was easier to get a dome cut to my needs than messing around with a stock head. PLus, I don't like cutting stock heads to fit orings....just no confidence in them. If you ride trails, cut your head, lighten your flywheel and get a timing plate and set it at +4. Those items right there will make a big difference in the way your bike runs, minimal investment... VForce 2s actually make a little more HP than the 3's. However, the 2's have to have the screws loctited in..or they could back out causing issues. 3's snap in the reeds.... Quote
scooter Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 i have the noss head and i like it 20cc domes and vf3 reeds too and i like them also. your elevation will determine what size domes you want to run and if you you want to run race gas or not i put my noss head on at the same time i installed a ricky stator adjustable timing plate set at + 4 degrees so im not sure whitch had the biggest bang for the buck but i can tell you toghter they made a huge difference. also with the noss head you use the stock studs some brands you have to change them Quote
