socal909 Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 looking for any suggestions on how i should jet my bike. im at about 2900 ft. running 112/91 octane. mods: cpi inframe drag port mill head 50/50 vforce 3 reeds timing plate +6 k&n pods any suggestion would be great! Quote
okbeast Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 I'd say with those pipes and the K&N pods you'd be somewhere around a 320-330, but that could also depend alot on what kind of port you have. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Why are you running a drag port on stock carbs and CPIs? Also, what's your compression at? At your elevation, you'd need a lot taken off that head and more timing to require race gas.... Start with 350s and work your way down, prolly use stock to 27.5 pilots. Quote

dajogejr Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Sorry...I meant cranking compression....PSI 35's on a stock 350 ought to work just fine. Quote

Do you have your needles in your jet kit? I think they may have gotten left behind. Came across them while helping leadfoot350 out at Glamis last weekend. Quote

Came across them while helping leadfoot350 out at Glamis last weekend. i have a pair of needls in one of the plastics you wrote stock on it, so im not sure if you have the stock ones in or the dyno jet ones, what clip should i be at if im running with the 340? Those are the dyno-jet ones. If you run the 340 jets you have to put in the Dyno-jet needles. The clip goes on the 3rd or 4th down. It says in the instructions. You have the stock needles in right now. Cant figure out one set of needles I have. I dont know where they came from?? Quote
dajogejr Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Stock needles have 5 grooves, middle is stock position. DynoJet are longer, skinnier needles and have 6 grooves, 4th clip down from the blunt end is standard.... I didn't read the whole thread, but no matter what needles you put in....Main Jet doesn't matter... You shouldn't have to run a certain main jet for any needle... SoCal...drag porting is your wild card. Start big, go leaner from there... Quote

I never used those Dyno-jet needles and jets. The needles alone scare me. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 Kevin, I'm not 100% sure on that. I bought the Toomey Dyno-jet kit last year, only for the needles...but it came with Mikuni Main jets in it, 270 and 280s. I'd stick to Mikuni branded jets....I don't know if DynoJet uses the same number scheme/size and Mikuni factory jets....sorry... Quote

What were the advantages over the stock needle besides the extra clip grove. Thanks for you input. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 13, 2006 Report Posted November 13, 2006 It's not just the extra clip groove, they're a different taper, thickness and length than stock needles. Supposedly, stock needles give a lean spot in the middle when you go Toomey Pipes and no airbox...from what I've gathered. My bike ran just fine with them. However, I got the Toomey/Dynojet needles and jets from Magic Racing on clearance for 19.99. The needles alone are more money than that...I called Toomey Direct... So, it was worth it...my bike ran good when it was stock. I wouldn't say it's leaps and bounds different...but, it ran good with stock needles too...for what it's worth... Quote
socal909 Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 i put the 340 main with the stock needle 3rd clip, ran pretty good,im going to put the dyno needle on 4th clip see how that runs, i did get wissling sound from time to time out of my pipes though? Quote
dajogejr Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 My bet is you won't notice much of a difference. Whistling? Is it possible they're leaking at the header/stinger tube meeting spot? Quote
