OKsoccer24
How long should use a k&n before replacing it? And the older it gets, is it possible for it to let less and less air through?
dajogejr
They last forever, pretty much ...IF: You keep it cleaned on a regular basis...and oiled properly, and... You don't get burn holes, holes in the net, etc. I'd say a long, long time.....why do you ask? Do you have a problem with yours?
OKsoccer24
I have had it for 3 years. My bike has started to start running richer and richer over the past few months.
dajogejr
I'm pretty sure you need to check elsewhere...as long as you're cleaning and oiling them right. It might have an air leak, it might even be time for a top end.... Have you done a compression check on it lately? Has it been getting harder to start cold? sheefreak
The only things that should make a bike richer(given you haven't changed your setup any) would be clogged filter or intake tract, warmer temerature, clogged silencers(have had packing build up and block silencer opening before) or increased elevation. Possibly your plugs degraded in some way, but it is a long shot.
dajogejr
Out of left field thought...but, stock coil caps are known to go bad... You can very cheaply and easily replace them...and that might help. Without getting good spark, it'll waste more fuel and make it appear rich.....just a thought.
