David Keith Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 if you truely have it cut for -.060 your piston will hit your head ,its not a question of weather yo uneed race gas ,run it like that and youll need a new topend as well. thats too tight a clearance and will detonate regardless of fuel and when the engine gets hot the rods actually stretch and will cause it to hit at high rpms ,you need atleast .032 clearance or your gonna have big problems eventually Yes. If there is not enough "running clearance" between the top of the piston & the milled head, problems will follow. The rod will stretch when revved high, thats' not theory, it is a fact. He needs to use some modeling clay to verify the 0.032 inch clearance BEFORE trying to run or check compression. Quote
