Lewis Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Hey, New member here, been looking around for quite awhile and finally had a reason to post. I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of putting a 'shee engine in a blaster frame? I ask because I have a blaster frame that I could get free of charge, and want to make something special out of it, and fast, of course, but that's a given. Any input would be much appreciated, pics even more so, if they exist. Cheers. Quote
[email protected] Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 i always thought of doing that , but to mee it just seems kinda pointless / rig ... would be more work then its actually worth...... maybe only for drag ? i dont know... great idea but i would rather put a dirtbike engine in a blaster then a shee motor....... ive ridden a cr250 blaster , HOLY hell , great bike...... Just my input ps . Welcome to the HQ buddy Quote
dajogejr Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 You can find a used banshee frame for a few hundred dollars...J or A arm style. Once you figure out how many man hours and custom fabrication it's going to take to shoehorn a banshee motor in there, you'll be better off with a used frame, shaved of all unneccessary brackets, and be happier.... Lewis Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 Are you sure it would actually be that much work to get the engine in there? I was looking at the frame yesterday, and, well it definitely would be something of a squeeze but not inconceivable. I'd rather use the blaster frame cuz, well I have to say I don't like the 'shee frame at all. I figure, if the frame is free, I'll just get the dimensions of the twin and see what needs to be done. dajogejr Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Nothing is impossible... How much access/knowledge do you have when it comes to fabricating and welding is the key... Sure it'll fit...if you can fit a "busa motor into a shee frame, you can get a shee motor into a blaster frame...but is it worth it in the end is the question... I personally would buy a used shee frame, shave it...re'weld it and powder coat it, but it's your time and money. Of course it can be done... Considering how much shorter of a wheelbase a blaster is than a shee, a big old swingarm is gonna be a must right off the bat. And if you think Banshee suspension is terrible....I think it's night and day better than a blaster's.... Just a few things to consider... I'd like to see some pics if you do go through with it...should be a cool project! Quote
Big Blue Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I would put a dirtbike motor in it if it were me. Quote
