MILO Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 i'm into a top end rebuild, so while i've got the motor out and torn down, i'm looking into other simple things also. basically, i want to stick with pump gas, and not have to worry about pulling the crank to be trued and welded. i'm waiting on the shop to determine if my cylinders will stay stock bore or need to go to .020 or whatever over. just recieved my noss head w/20cc domes. going with wiseco pro-lites also. no porting done and probably won't be in the near future. i'm looking at adding v3's and a RS timing plate, possibly up to 4 degrees from what i've read. am i safe to do all of this and stick with premium pump gas and not pull the crank? or what do i need to drop out of the plan? timing or v3's, or both? and will the 20cc domes still be cool to use? riding elevation between 1000'-2000'. pc pipes, pro flow w/no lid boyesen reeds (currently) Quote
blueshee03 Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 (edited) i'd say you'll be safe with +4 advance and the v3's and 20cc domes.however trueing and welding crank is insurance.in my experiences i ran a shee for 2 seasons at new paris drags with a stock crank that was not welded and trued,+4 advance and 18cc domes, and 34pj's and out of frame drag pipes on pump gas and had no motor problems at all.not sure of elevation there but its around the same altitude as you are.maybe i was just lucky.just be sure to make sure its jetted correctly.
