Tips for a frame up build

I'm watching a bike on ebay, if it goes over a certain price then I'm going to buy a frame and build the way I want. I don't see it getting done anytime soon but thats ok. I'll just buy parts as I can afford them, etc.

Just wondering if you guys had any tips for a ground up bike build. I'm estimating $4-5k total, I'm going to make a wish list though and see the rough estimate.

Replace all bearings, seals, and bushings. I did it, and I'm really glad I did, because I found some pieces that wouldn't have lasted very long.

take your time and do it right ,buy good parts ,not just any shit.building them is half of the fun(i think)

 

i would try to find a roller (no motor ) this way you get most of the parts you need in one shot ,probably cheaper in the long run and you can still buid it the way you want.

I built mine from the frame up, started with nothing but a frame off ebay, cost me around $5K here's what I came up with though, I think I did pretty well for 5K, considering a new stocker cost about 6K.

I'm actually in the process of doing the same thing except i stripped my really clean and sharp 2000 banshee down for no reason..... I guess you never need a reason to rebuild a banshee..... I could also use some advice or tips... they definately wont hurt... im up for a ideas or tips if anyone would likje to help....

im almost done with mine. When you get your bike powdercoated throw in any extra parts you may have that you are not going to use and sell them on ebay. It brings in the cash to fund your powdercoat job. I did that and with some parts I was just going to throw away sold them and almost payed for my complete powder job. Ebay is your friend remeber that.
