i purchased a -1 5/8 stock swingarm with roundhouse. it is in great shape. while i was assembling it i notice it didn't have the stock chain quide bracket located just in front of the spocket. this is not a big deal cause i have my stock one i just took off, but is it needed?

i just wanted to see if i should have this welded on, wasn't sure if it was needed on shortened setups.

thanks

There was a similar post a while back. Someone who I recognized as a regular knoweldgable HQer responded and said that they had been running w/o the rear chain guide for over a year w/ no issues. I have heard that w/o it you can have chain derailment problems. I think this would probably only be the case if your chain was way too loose out of adjustment + warn out + snaggle tooth worn out rear sprockets.
