trex banshee Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 okay this really has me stumped my brother and i went riding last sunday at a rock quary (all morning) and his banshee ran fine, then on sunday nights we drag race all our buddies and freinds in front of my house. it was then it started running like shit. it just boggs really bad on the line. i have cleaned every thing twice (gas tank, carbs, and air filter) and the problem still exist. here is the jetting 320 mains,25 pilots, needle in middle clip, air screw 1.5 turns out. if any one can help it would be nice. thanks. wesw Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 i would suggest going up on the needle. you sound lean down low and off the line. a bigger pilot might help but raise your needle first Quote
trex banshee Posted August 13, 2005 Author Report Posted August 13, 2005 what would you suggest going to on the pilot a 30. also how far down should i go on the needle one clip at a time? Quote
wesw Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 i personnally not a big fan of bigger pilots on the stock carbs. if you went up i would go to the 27.5. im almost the same elevation as your are. i was stock pilots, 4th clip on the needle with 340 mains with t5s, open box that should get you some where near the ball park Quote
9603banshee Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 (edited) do what wes told you,...pilot at 27.5, move needle to 4th clip down, & advancing timing alone, without messing with jetting, will definatly clear that problem ....put it at 5 and hold on!! trex banshee Posted August 14, 2005 Author Report Posted August 14, 2005 the timing is alreadt advanced 4 degrees, and which way on the needle do i go from the squared end or the pointed end. also where can i order pilot jets from my local dealers don't have them all they have is the longer pilots for hondas and i cant seem to find the right one in dennis kirk. wesw Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 by raiseing the needle your lowering the clip or moving the clip towards the pointed end. i would try the needle first to see if it helps then worry about the pilot. try 4th clip see how it acts. then try the 5th it might respond well to it. trex banshee Posted August 14, 2005 Author Report Posted August 14, 2005 what "series" pilot do i need to buy for the stock carbs. by the pictures in dennis kirk the only thing close is the air screw but it doesn't sell in the right sizes. where can i order some pilots from? Quote
9603banshee Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 like I said before, put you're timing at 5, yes one degree makes a big diff. and call moto-man in dirtwheels and tell them you need pilots for stock carbs and they will already know what series...they're very smart people there...also the pilots are only like 4 bucks a piece...the number is a 800 number out of Michigan Quote

trex banshee Posted August 15, 2005 Author Report Posted August 15, 2005 thanks jeff but i found some last night they were 4 dollars a piece and they will be here wednesday.thanks anyways also could low compression cause symptoms like this. it has 21 cc domes with 120psi. Quote
wesw Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 when was your last rebuild, i ran 20 cc on my old setup and had 155 psi and im about the same elevation as you. might do a compression test to see if the readings are off more than 10%. if they are close i would get some 19 domes if your running good gas Quote
trex banshee Posted August 15, 2005 Author Report Posted August 15, 2005 this isn't for my banshee it is on my brothers. now i got some jets ordered but i have another question on the stock carbs inside the slides should the little hole be visible when the bracket that holds the needle in is in place or should the bracket be turned the other way to cover it up? i know it sounds vauge but its the best i could describe it.
