vdubn Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I have an 89 Banshee, and I need new calipers, mine are shot. Can I put late model calipers and hoses, etc. onto my bike, or do I need to swap out the knuckles too? Thanks, Dean Quote
chapmanmd Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 There are differences, yes. The early calipers do not use banjo bolts for the brake lines, thus keeping you from using nice braided steel lines. Also, old school calipers will not fit newer spindles, nor will the newer calipers fit old school spindles. Its a bitch, I know, but you really are better off swapping out your calipers and spindles for newer model stuff. The use of Banjo bolts alone on the calipers alone were enough to convince me. Did the old system work? Sure, just fine. But... I went to +2 +1 arms and the old lines were too short. Braided steel extended lines wont work, so what do you do? Change out the calipers and spindles. Just my $.02 worth. Your mileage may vary. Quote
