Banshee~ Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 The plate has an o ring seal, but a put some silicone around it for extra protection. Quote
MILO Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 im a new owner of a 05 banshee and i opened up the airbox today to check out the filter.....this is a shitty design.....what mods are being done to fix this and still ride in creeks so i have to use the whole box.... 359136[/snapback] i have a pro design pro flow kit w/foam filters. it also has an o-ring which helps seal the manifold to the air box, but i also slipped on a little silicone just to be safe. it is 100x better than the stock pos. i run through creeks often too, usually not anything over the air box though. i left the lid off due to the increase in response and power and haven't had any trouble yet. i pulled the drain catch from the bottom of the box too so if i do get into deep water, it will quickly drain back out. ditching the lid, or any mods to the air box will require rejetting though to compensate for the additional air flow. i started out with the same thoughts as you, keeping the box closed up tight, but after riding without the lid, it quickly changed my mind. my first attempt to gain air flow was removing the snorkel and putting a fine window screen over the gaping hole to catch debris. then added a load of the 1" uni filters into the lid, 12 of them. nothing compared to ditching the lid altogether though. check and clean the filters if needed after each ride, and they should be cool. oh yeah, and if you do hit deep water, a lot of it can be squeezed from the filters while still attached and in the box, and drained out without the catch in place. ditch the lid, put on some pipes and shee'll really come alive. good luck! MILO Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 by the way, check out www.rockymountainatv.com for the pro design, they have the best deal i've found. for most other things also Quote
sredish Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 The Pro Design Plate and the Noss Machine plate are pretty similar and function the same... BUT, 1) Noss Machine (and Dave, aka dlnoss) are site sponsors; 2) Dave, aka dlnoss, are on here pretty regularly should you have questions, problems, whatever; 3) He's a great guy to deal with and would do anything to make any transaction right. So, would you rather mail order to an oversized warehouse who knows where, or deal from someone who's supporting the very site we're on for free (well some), and someone you can get ahold of very easily through the site, and is giving discounts. (FYI, I'm not pointing this to you MILO, i've bought my share of stuff from RMATV, i'm just letting waffles make an "informed" decision.... I had a PD plate on mine, but would've bought it from Noss had it not been on the machine when I bought it.) Quote
waffles Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 could i ride without the lid if i was riding on blacktop after it rained??would the water on the road get into the airbox?also with toomey t5s and running without the lid what kind of main jets would be close to a quad under 3000 feet elevation??also has anyone dynoed a quad with before and after airbox lid removal to see what gains if any?
