how to measure a long rod crank

How can you measure if a crank is a long rod or short rod while it is still in the bottom half of the motor?

Well, if you're cylinders are off, use a metric measuring device, stock stroke is 54mm, go from there.....

Take the head off and get the # off the piston top. If it is a long rod, almost guarenteed it will have 795 series pistons (5mm offset wrist pin to go with 5mm longer rod). If memory serves, will have something like 7956450 Thats a 795 series piston with 64.50 mm bore (if the stock cylinder was bored once to clean up after porting)
