jeepman380 Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 I was wondering if anyone had some long travel V8 sandrail blueprints or plans that they would be willing to share? I'm wanting to start building one but I can't find any plans anywhere for the long travel V8 sandrails but all I could find were the regular run-of-the-mill VW engine buggies. Any help would be great. Thanks Quote
racer Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 well i have a little, and i mean little experience in such things. when my bud built had his car built i asked the dudes how they designed their frames. theyre answer was simple. they built chenowth knock-offs for a long time. so once they wanted longtravel they modified the previous designs to narrow at the front for the wide a-arms and not the beam. when we asked about the motor cage they said they just enlarged the 1600 series cage to fit a northstar. just simple measurements is all. to make everything fit up they just started bending a lil at a time until the came up with a functional a-arm LT front end. these guys do have fab experience though. IMO, i would buy a frame and mod it to my needs. the kits are not that expensive if you order one unwelded. just MO though. Quote
