I'm planing to buy the wifes 01 Durango in June when the lease is up. I got a call from the salesman I bought the truck from who said he has an 03 with 19,000 miles, (mine has 41,000). The 03 also has the remainder of the factory 8 yr. 80,000 mile warranty where I would have to purchase a 4 year warranty from the dealer, if i wanted one. Also the price is the same as the buy out with the wifes' and this newer model. The problem is this, the 03 does not have the rear, or third seat, which I really need. I am not against purchasing my wifes truck as I maintained it perfectly but lets face it, its gonna need brakes, and a set of tires pretty soon. My question is can a dealer install the rear seat or is this a factory installed item? I posted this on a Durango forum with no results as of yet. This is the best forum of ANY kind so I'm looking for anyone that knows the deal with factory or in this case dealer installed items and their liability.

Thanks,

Bob

yes the dealer can install this. The question is why did he call you wanting to trade? The IS a catch here. Think about it, which vehicle could they sell easier. So why would they call you wanting to trade their vehicle for one that would be harder to sell. There is no such thing as a honest salesman, Some of them act verry sincere and those are the ones to watch out for. Keep the rig you have now. Youll be better off in the long run.

Actually he is kind of an airhead. I've purchased 2 trucks from him, my 98 1500 4X4 and the wifes 01 Durango. I also had my Mom by a Stratus from him and I introduced him to a few friends of mine who ALL bought trucks from him. I called him on purchasing my wifes Durango and he called me back on the 03. I guess what I'm trying to say is he is a pretty good guy, I have thrown him major business ( 1 car and at least 5 or 6 pickup trucks, probably more like 10 or 11). I would really hate to think he is trying to fuck me on this. But it is the nature of the beast. I have also heard the frame is different on a third row rear seat on the Durango as opposed to just the two seats. Thanks for the help.
