reefman18 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I got a duncan racing motor off of my buddy. The pistons were fried. I got the cylinders bored and put it all back together. I am running cgj needles on the 4th clip position, 58pilot jets, and 172 mains in 35 pwk keihin carbs. I am posting this because i statred it up for the first time yesterday and after the 2 15minute idle periods duncan wants you to do, i took it for a ride. Well when i kicked into gear and hit the throttle it bogged out. It sounded like it was gasping for air. I checked the plugs and they were soaked with gas. I think that it is running way to rich. I tried increaseing the needle diameter and tried a cgk needle and a cgm needle and that didnt seem to help me lean it out. It runs great in idle but has nothing else. Any advice on what i could try next? Quote
fun_on_the_sand Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Rather than changing the needle, try lowering the needle. Is the problem on the 0-1/4 throtle range, 1/4-3/4 throtle range or WOT? Quote
