dawgfan Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 My machinist who does most my work wants to lighten my flywheel for me, but I don't think he's ever done one on a banshee before. He does mostly high performance work and builds race engines. They have been in business for over 30 years and are known to be one of the best in the area, so i don't really want to insult him by doubting his work. I know he has done plenty of work on race car fly's, I just wondered if there are any differences in the 2? what type of questions should I ask him about the fly work? How many oz's should the final fly weigh? Is it pretty much just drilling the face holes out bigger or is there more to it? Sorry guys, I know there are a couple of people on the HQ that do fly work everyday, but this way will save me a week or so turn around time, and I can be back up and running the same day. Quote

It would take at least a week to get done and back to me, maybe more. Plus shipping both ways. If my guy does it I can sit and watch him do it, and have it back on and running in a matter of a couple hours. The price doesn't really concern me, just the down time. Quote

I remove about 9 ounces from the outside of a stock flywheel, a couple more ounces if you machine slots in the face. Also, always use the correct thread in style flywheel puller. Quote
