BdBanshee Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 It's been awhile since I removed mine, but I think there is a threaded piece (nut threaded on the outside) that holds the bearing into the frame. You can use a hammer and punch to loosen it or, there were some pics in a post awhile back of a tool that you can make. I think the nut that holds the bearing in has a hex shaped hole in the middle. racer Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 bd's right. to remove that nut you need a special tool or some hardware and a welder. a member here sell the tool on his website. www.dunedevilinc.com you can either buy that or weld some hardware together to make a ghetto type socket. the diamtere of the hex is 30mm. so anything in a hex form of that size will work. take note though that sometimes they are not easy to remove. mine required thermal persuasion. give it a good douse of some penetrating lube and let it set for a while, then go after it with a vengence. good luck. boonman Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 The cheap and easy method, is to get a 3/4" diameter bolt. The flat-flat measurement on the head of that bolt will be about 1 1/8". Meaning, that a 1 1/8" wrench will fit the head of that bolt. now, get you a bolt of that size, either a 3/4"-10 NC, or a 3/4"-16 NF will be what you will find at the hardware store. Stick the head of the bolt in the retaining nut in the frame. (the hex looking thing on top of the bearing...) and grab onto it with a good pair of vice grips. Turn it out. Or, weld a nut to the bolt, and stick a socket on it. Or an impact. Quote

Put a wrench on the nuts an then thell tighten to the screw driver and maybe back out the bearing cover. Never done it just thought of it.
