Banshee_LE Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Well I had my Banshee for about one year and a half now and have about 40 tanks of gas on her. I was thinking of rebuilding the top end because 2 of my buddies blew up their engine about the same way. The ring on the piston twisted and scratch the cylinder. One of them does about the same ridding has I do, and the other well he's just crazy . So my maine question his; I have 120 for compression on both cylinders and never change anything in the engine. Should I be afraid of having the same problem as my buddies? Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 (edited) You're fine, I woulnd't screw with it. A little maintinance, good gas/oil mixture, & correct jetting will go a long way. I guarantee I got more than 40 tanks of gas through my '97 & it's still got stock pistons & rings & with my milled head, still 150lbs compression. Edited December 23, 2004 by ledofthezep Quote
Ducman Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I did a search and it said the average elevation in New-Brunswick was 1000 ft so 120 PSI is probably about what the stock compression should be if your at 1000', maybe a hair low. I doubt it needs a rebuild but it couldn't hurt. If you do, probably just freshen up the top end, get the cylinders honed and put on new rings if the pistons look good and it would only cost you about $30 at the most if you did the work yourself.
