Ducman Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 You can leave the airbox totally stock if you want although the snorkel doesn't do all that much more to keep stuff out of the air box than just the lid by itself and the snorkel holds back a lot of power. The stock filter sucks like mentioned already. If your doing this just to avoid re-jetting don't, if you run it really lean like you would be doing it will melt your pistons in a pretty short amount of time. Quote
richybanshee Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 (edited) Ducman has a very good point, stock filter sucks and holds you some needed power. Also do not .... I repeat: DO NOT leave your jetting stock. The only reason to leave your jetting stock is that you may want to melt the pistons on purpouse. Maybe I'm just a little . Really, probably you would not burn a piston if you just restrict air flow, but then you will not gain a lot of power and the shee will not run as you wanted it to. At least put 260 mains and take the snorkle off. If you leave the pilot (slow jet) stock size maybe you will not have problems during the somer but in the winter starting your shee could be a pain in the ass.
