i assume i can order some aftermarket adapter boots to correct this problem.does anyone with experience with this recomend any one brand over the other?

Believe it or not, the stock boots will fit the 28mm PWKs. I stretched my boots to fit 30mm PWKs. Stretch them with your hands, and fight them until you get them on, then immediately put the clamps on.

 

I later fought some clamp on filters made for stock carbs until they fit on my 30mms.

 

IT WILL WORK!!!! TRUST ME. Be patient.

I put mine in boiling water for a little while and i found some large washers the same diameter as the carbs, took the boots out of the water and put the washers in and let them cool. After that they fit perfect.

I just got some 34mm carbs (still in the mail) from Moto Carrera and ordered some boots to fit the stock airbox. Kinda pricy at around $45 though. I'd try the stretch method and maybe buy some boots if it wont work. I have started leaving the boots on the carbs when messing with jetting. Seems easier to get the boots around the airbox vs getting the carbs in the boots. If you can get them on good you should only have to fight them once.
